Wow! Can’t wait! Four fantastic layouts, how to repair switches, some more of your Lionel factory layout project, and a treasure trove of more!
Great idea to overhaul the Lionel postwar 022 switches. Given plenty of TLC they will never wear out. Afterall, they were Made in the USA by skilled Americans!
Received my issue of CTT and really enjoyed it. I particularly enjoyed the layout tours and the article about the CTT staff’s project Lionel display layout. Already looking forward to the next issue and the article about tips for getting the most out of MTH’s signals. Bo
Very interesting display layouts. I am hoping someone makes a vieo of these beauties in action. Again, thanks for the memories.
AWESOME LAYOUT. WISH MINE LOOKED THAT GOOD.
Looking forwar to the O22 repairs and the display layouts.
This is a gem of an issue .Thanks, CTT
Great issue of ctt, would like to see more small layouts.
I love the layouts, and the pictures are my favorites. Keep the helpful tips for layouts coming!
I’ve overhauled dozens of O22 switches over the years, and can say that Terry Thompson really nailed it with his piece in the February 2013 issue. Occasionally, though, the rails need more than an eraser.
I’m being asked to photograph and record all my rolling stock (all O & 027) for insurance purposes. How do I get comparable values for K-line, Atlas, Williams by Bachman, MTH as well as pre and post war Lionel? Is there one book that has this info or do I contact remaining companies directly?
Jack,
The manufacturers do not track re-sale or collectible value of their products, so they would not be able to give you any information.
We publish the Greenberg’s Pocket Price Guide for Lionel Trains, which covers prewar, postwar, and modern era trains. As for the other brands, I’d suggest checking “Completed Auctions” on eBay as one source for non-Lionel products.
Good luck with this project!
Great issue. Nice to see a fellow Canadian have his great layout featured!
I’m an amateur O Scale (Traditional) that has the ideas and work for a layout. I have a 4’x10’ layout underway in my basementr an bunches ot Lionel trains and RMT on Fasttrack (s00n to be 036 & 031. My problem is wiring and lighting structure. Any idea where I can find a book on wiring simple. Thanx and Classic Toy Trains you are #1.
I photographed my collection put it on a dvd and keep it in my lock box at my bank in case of fire or even a break in. I do this with my wife collectables also. In fact I did this with my whole house, garage, cabin and all my small sheds so there is no question when it comes to insurance.
Nice
Keep those 4X8 project articles coming!
looking forward.
Your february issue is great to look at and very informative in its content especially on restoring 022 lionel switches. The various photos in the article walk you right true all the steps. The layouts shown are great to look at and dream abour.
