Editor Carl Swanson previews the January 2013 issue

Awesome job, CTT! It’s nice to see the first issue of 2013! A new layout project, a boxcar collection, a scenic O gauge railroad, and a tinplate layout! Can’t wait for it to arrive in my mailbox!

very informative . keep up the great work . our family enjoys every magazine, and looks forward to the great stories and layouts. its great for new ideas.we enjoy the great post war information and pictures also, thank you.

This is going to be great to read, and look at. I Started to build an O gage this year. Been having a great time with the block control O-27 rail oval inside, running two trolleys, and on the outside, an O gage fast track by lionel. I learn somethng new everytime I work on the lay out.

Great. Enjoy watching these previews videos.

I always enjoy the commentary and look forward to receiving the magazine. Would like review on the Lionel modular kit they are selling

i ALREADY RECEIVED THE JANUARY ISSUE, VERY NICE COLOR PHOTOS, OF THE DIFFERENT LAYOUTS !

I built my first 4"X 8" railroad around 1950. I continued adding to it until
1960. I had several 6464 freight cars and passenger cars and a zw transformer. I still have alot of the O gage stuff butI have gone to HO Scale.

I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s. I love looking at the classic toy train set layouts from that era! Keep up the good work!

CTT has hit another home run with the January 2013 edition… I always enjoy looking back at others Holiday memories during the Christmas season. The article in the “Question and Answer” section explaining how to tweak the Lionel 356 Freight Station came just in time for me. Ladies and Gentlemen of CTT, my hats off to you!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all…

I’m not very mechanical at all. But I tried Peter Riddle’s technique for the Atlas 21st Century track “Wiring Without Soldering” article and it works! That was perfectly timed as I needed to add additional “drops” but didn’t want to have to take apart my layout and track. Good ideas on Lionel contacts. I use both on my layout. Nice job, CTT! You made me look good again.

Lionel trains of the 50s were and still are great. Really appreciate CTT not forgetting that Christmas is still the time of year when so many families set up train gardens. As Andy Williams croons, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”

The 4X8 1950s layout is very inspiring. I was thrilled when I found the Lionel set I received for Christmas 1951 in the CTT Golden Years special. No doubt, millions of boys started building their first layout on the traditional 4X8 sheet of plywood. My all time favorite layout remains the one on the rear and inside rear cover of Lionel’s 1957 catalog. A pity it wasn’t a showroom layout. It would have fit perfectly in CTT’s showroom layout special.

I’m wondering why , after taking the time and effort to put together such a beautiful re-creation of the D146 Lionel layout, you use some MTH accessories. Sort of like completely restoring a 1957 Chevy, but using newer Volkswagen tires and rims.

LOVE THE OLD TRAINS,STILL HAVE MINE FROM 1953.KEEP UP THE GOODI IDEAS THANK CARL
