i am retired and model railroaded as a kid, but now am full time camper and live in a 40’ 5th wheel… Space is a premium for a model layout i would like . So for x-mas my wife gave me a Mark Feldstein desk top die cast steam layout… there is Eng. coal car which holds 4 aa batteries, and two pass. cars, 16 pieces of track making a 24 in. oval. now then where do i put it, do i get a board, no ,no place to set it up or store it… I set down at the P/C and it hit me… around the moniter on the P/C table…toothpics , spaghetti, styrofoam , empty cig. cartons for material to build houses and etc. have contributed to my layout. the train set sells for $23 and i probally have $20n in HO people and cars . I know this dosn’t compete with most of the model layouts i’ve seen, but it has provided me with a lot of winter fun.
Sounds great! There are unique challenges in inexpensive and small space layouts. Having a blast is what matters most. It must be nice to live in the camper - that may lend itself well to a lot of railfanning!
