Cool, what is old is new
I wonder just how long after they are placed in service in El Paso, TX, they are ‘tagged’?
Too bad they won’t be going to Juarez like they used to. And the new Detroit streetcar won’t go to the tunnel at the border to Windsor. Come to think about it, there is no way to go by surface transportation between Grand Forks and Winnipeg, either.
An interesting design challenge for the growing market would be a “retro” PCC type, as VW did with the “bug.”
Are these the same cars I saw, stored in a vacant lot in downtown El Paso in 1977?
These cars were stored in a lot in Northeast El Paso. They were later moved on to airport property just North of runway 26. The “retro” idea was looked into but the cost was greater and the historical value would have been lost
Bill Schag in San Diego
El Paso bought some PCC cars when they quit running in San Diego in 1949, more than likely these
are from that original purchase.
