Those governing Orange County have not listened very well to the voters before, so it might be a surprise if the vote is for the tax increase this time. Rather, it seems to me that the voters have been telling government to cut its expenditures and save the bucks in order to develop the matching funds.

Virginia and North Carolina have taken positive steps in improving thier transportation choices, much like California did in the past couple of decades. It’s also another step towards restoring passenger train service over the former SAL route, now dormant, which would bring much welcome service improvements to both the Carolinian and the Silver Star, through Henderson, NC, once served by the above trains. It would cut running time significantly between Richmond and Raleigh.
