My question is how many electric feeders should you use for a layout thats approximately 4x8 L shape with a 4x4 section coming off the L part. I’ll only be running probably 1 train on it and its a dc setup.
You could take the “lazy route” and start with one, then see how it goes. The “serious route” would be more like one per 6 feet of track. Flex track will behave better than sectional, fewer joints.
I added feeders every 6 feet using flex track. This seems to work pretty good, don’t solder in your switches, in case you need to change them out in the future.
