Indeed–I’d like to be able to model the Sacramento Northern interurbans without having to buy brass starting at $200, or make stuff pretty much from scratch. Oh, for a Baldwin-Westinghouse or a GE steeplecab! I know, I know, MRRwarehouse makes kits, but the B-W is essentially just a bunch of flat etched-brass pieces without detail parts, trucks or motors, and the GE isn’t much easier to build…

I agree… I had to shell out $$$ to get one of my favorites, a Cleveland Union Terminal P-1a. from Overland! I too would like to have an E-44 or a P-5a.

Standard had a sale on the two pound BLI GG1 with sound for $135.00.
Being DC, I also bot the Sidekicker for the separate horn/bell instead
of using the reverse switch on my pack.

I Agree Im Looking For A Chicago Merta Loco Myself…

Have you considered building a master and casting your own kit? I’m seriously looking into this to satisfy my needs.

Me too. Way too much $$$. I would cast my own, but the cost of power, trucks, details and etc. is about that of brass, and my wife would get 1/3 of cost when I depart this life. So I hunt.

I hear you and I feel your pain - but I do not share it. Since I model a country that has catenary over almost every meter of rail (except the older Tokyo subways, which use third rail,) there is no shortage of model motors for me to choose from. My present collection (which is adequate for my present and projected needs) includes Bo+Bo ED14 and ED17 box motors, 1-Bo+Bo-1 ED16 box motors, both boxcab and streamlined 2-Co+Co-2 motors and ‘modern boxcab’ Bo-Bo-Bo and Bo+Bo-Bo+Bo motors, several of each.

When whimsey overcomes good sense, a GG-1 makes an appearance, dwarfing everything else and looking perfectly ridiculous. What, me worry?

I also feel the electric crunch
I have a aem-7 its a brass (not the atlas I have 3 of them)
but I cant seem to find parts for the brass aem-7. its a rare breed the electrics
looks like I have to make a tesla coil for the top

but seems like there is a big market for it

hey model railroad tell your writers we want some articles on availible models and how they run
heck give me a pen I got some ideas for a magazine artical
more roundups

Kenny told you

New Haven fans have been waiting for an NH electric (non-brass) for years.

EP-5’s even made it on a MR top 10 list once.

We don’t need more stinking GG1’s… Its time a unit from the premier electric road (NH) was done.
