Electrofrog or Insul-rog and DCC?

Which type of Peco code 55 turnout is best suited for DCC operation-Insulfrog or Electrofrog? and why? (I know this is a common topic, but I haven’t seen much about it lately, and must make a decision soon.)
Thanks.

Steer clear of “power routing” turnouts for DCC, stick with “all live” turnouts.
I don’t know which is which in the Peco terminology but the all live type is what you want.
I’m currently replacing most of my Shinohara/Walthers to the DCC “friendly” type which are “all live”…

Either, both will work with DCC. The electros will require a little extra wiring.

If you have a small loco with only two axles and using insulfrog, then in case loco will interupted if you are driving to slow over the turnout. With electrofrog, you can reached higher up with contact over the turnouts!
Just in case.

I use Peco insulfrog they work fine, but I don’t have any short loco’s.

Go to the following for the finest explanation of Peco turnouts and the correct use of terminology:

My new Electrofrogs just arrived today. I had the same decision to make about 2 weeks ago. Did a lot of researching on this forum, and on the internet. Finally decided on the Electrofrogs, instead of the Insulfrogs. Extra wiring required, but its not a big deal. (Just read through the instruction sheet that comes with each turnout.) Agree with above poster, visit “wiringfordcc.com”. Goes into detail about what will be required to get the turnouts DCC-ready for your layout.

I think the Electro’s look nicer, and their frog is metal, not plastic like the Insuls, so their frogs will not absorb the wear and tear over time. Just my opinion. I hope you research the issue, and make a best decision for you. GL. Also, if interested in buying, give Sharper Trains on e-bay a try for the Peco track. Got mine for $17.25 and $17.95 each. Not trying to be a shill!! Just want to give you another option or alternative for your ultimate purchase. GL, you will enjoy either of your choices.
