Elliot´s Trackside Diner April 2010

Welcome again!

The move has been made, the switcher has uncoupled and is back to its track! The twins, Flo and Janie are just cleaning up the mess caused by the rough train ride over badly laid track…

A trace of bread crumbs has been laid out to the old place, so we are ready to go!

Hey! Thanks Ulrich!

Flo, any decafe left? Hope the pot didn’t spill like my mug here. Oh and could I have a couple paper towels, I seem to have gotten my pants wet…

No Barry! That is not what happened! Sheesh, what a mind…[:-^]

I hung the CLOSED sign in the old place with a link to this diner.

As I have finished my nightcap, I´ll go back to bed.

Have a good night!

[|)][sigh][zzz][zzz]

eh?----I just came in and I get accused of having an odd mind? well maybe it is I don’t really know [:-^]

As I just claime said, I just came home so there—I have an alibi[:-^]

Chloe, I’ll have a RBF with a SRP please—I’ll sit at the RC and bug Ray

Please excuse my dumb look. SRP?

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie… OH, OH! I’m outa here!

73

Not so dumb a look Jeffrey, I had to ask in a diner far far away and in another time zone what a RBF was! I also wondered about your taco soup! thanks for clearing that up Jeffrey. Now what IS a SRP-

OH! OH! OH! I think I figured it out! IS IT A Strawberry Rubbarb Pie???

Have a good nite everyone

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. Thanks for clearing that up. If I wasn’t whacked on pain killers right now I probably would have known that.

If Vinnie so much as suspects somebody will throw a pie he’ll tie their arms in a knot.

Good! I think the pie throwing is very juevenile and unnecessary. But I was told in the last diner to “lighten up” and that “you gotta have some fun once in awhile”.

Besides while I like to EAT pies, I do like CAKE too! Noone will throw cakes as they just aren’t as messy.

Good nite all have a good sleep.

Evening all. It’s still March here in Jersey, but we can pretend we’re three hours in the future…

Janie, could I please have a-- uh, Barry, what are you doing… oh no… SPLATTTTT! Oh, thanks. I wanted some pie anyway, just not on my face. Oh well, at least it’s apple…

Well, after I finish licking my face clean, I’ll go back to the old diner to catch up…

Evening everyone,

Found the new spot.

Ulrich - thanks for making the move. Jeff - I noticed you posted our new forwarding address.Your post says locked but the thread doesn’t show the little lock symbol in the title. Don’t know if it matters or not.

Well the weather guessers said it was supposed to clear up today and be about 55F. Well the sun never did show its face and it felt like it never got above 45F. Oh well, I guess tomorrow is as good as any day for another try at better weather.

Pat

Good Evening, Flo, I see you and Janie are in for Chloe tonight (and for the straightening up…). I’ll have a hot fudge brownie with vanilla ice cream on top, and a Rio Grande mug of dark roast, please. Thanks!

I’d thought I would be in here before the move; however, I’d forgotten about time zones and Ulrich being a few hours ahead of us. So Ulrich, if you’re already in tomorrow, can you fill me on about what’s gonna happen in my April 1st tomorrow? [swg]

Welp (as Todd is fond of saying), I have my laptop’s AC adapter/charger back with it, the laptop’s 120 GB drive has been cloned onto the desktop’s same sized drive, and the weather here in Cape was grand today! [:D] We reached the mid-70’s F today (or low 20’s C), and the sun was out in all its glory, with some fairly strong breezes - delightful![8D]

Didn’t have any afternoon appointments, so the daytime hours I was off (no smart-alec comments there, Barry!) until 4:30 p.m. (local time), when I came on-call. Hoping for a very dull evening, I am. Picked up the refund check for my electric bill that I mistakenly overpaid last month (leaving me with a negative balance this month, which they would have loved to hang onto, but I figure if they’re gonna fuss when I’m late one day paying, I will fuss back. (Harrrumph, and take THAT, Ameren!).

Was fiddling with the layout design again last night; I’m still trying to get the hang of how to modify a previously drawn plan, so I can change to the grades and see what kind of grades I’ll have as it is. Turnouts have to be a level piece (okay…), and then you specify to what height you need the track to go. But when I try to do that, sometimes it puts the grade the reverse direction, and elevates a turnout that is supposed to be at ‘zero’ inches elevation. [banghead] I foresee more fiddling with i

Geez Jim, don’t rub it in.[swg] Its been so long since the sun has been out that I forget what it looks like. They are guessing that it will get upto almost 80F on Saturday. It was 27F for the overnight low on Monday. Talk about a temperature swing!

All this talk about SRP has me hungry. Been awhile since I had a SRP. I’ll have to see if the Boss can bake one for me.

Pat

I did not throw any such pie. I saw that coming from behind–Kerrssplisssshhhh!!! sigh — at least it was Lemon Meringue Pie----right in my ear too.

I think I’ll just meander over to the corner booth and hide under it[sigh]

I didn’t say anything-----yet[:-,][:D]

JimRC: Which planner are you using right now? I’ve been having fun with XtrakCAD and have run into that issue. Are you still in elevations when doing that?

Look at THIS!!! I walk in a full 2 HOURS after the Diner has been moved, and what have we??? SOMEONE else threw a pie!!! NOT ME!!! No siree BOB!!!

Here is the aftermath of when I opened the door!

Of course, I probably had it coming!

And to my friend (as we are ALL friends here) I just wanted to clarify:

I never mentioned to anyone to “lighten up”, I DID however say “you gotta have fun once in a while”! I would NOT behave like this in a REAL World Diner, for the exact reason you mentioned previously, for fear of being kicked out! But HERE, it is just a way to let off steam, and I tip extremely high on the days that I let off excessive “steam”!!!

THAT, and I agree with the poster who mentioned “anyone who throws a Pecan Pie is JUST MEAN!”

Well, I have my written test on Morris Interlocking to Mantua Interlocking (Northeast Corridor, Amtrak) and 30th Street Station (Amtrak) tomorrow, so I shall be hitting the sheets in a few short minutes. Please pray for me as this will be a little difficult, I have been having a hard time remembering some of the Distant Signals to the Interlockings.

Evening ya’ll. Just a stop in before I hit the hay.

I had to drive my brother all the way to dothan so he could pick up some wheels for his car. Never though a 4-hour drive (2 each way) would tire me out.

Guess I should get out before a pie flies my way…

Catching up from the last and this diner…

Ulrich, VERY VERY NICE (I said it before, but I’m saying it again since it’s done) loco!
And thanks for choosing a nice location for the Diner!!

Sawyer, I know that feeling of teachers trying to cram before break (which, for us, is the end of the quarter). Last Friday I had to make up three tests from the two days before (sick), one of which I found out I was taking literally 5 minutes before I took it (fortunately, it was easy). But good luck on those anyway!

Ray, that sounds… just, lovely… Yum…
And sure that’s not how it happened… if you say so… [;)]

Jim, the wind was the major factor in the Ocean Grove fire a few weeks ago, despite the fact that it was pouring. But the rain saved the rest of the town from burning…

Barry, if that wasn’t you, then who was it? Cause they were wearing a disguise, apparently trying to frame you… hmmmm…

Sam, good luck on the test! If you could survive the NYP test, you should do fine.

I am so looking forward to this extremely nice weather this weekend! It’s about time the precipitation stops! It snowed a lot all winter long, and then we’ve had pouring rain since then, with the exception of one nice warm week! Rediculous…

Well, that about does it for now. I’ll catch you guys tomorrow.

Good luck on those exams!!

They be totally “dissssssthpthpthpicable!!”[V] trying to imitate Daffy here[:-^]
