Well, the move has been safely completed, the girls are getting ready to re-open the place and cousin Vinnie has disappeared in the back booth again.
Welcome aboard this month´s Diner!
Well, the move has been safely completed, the girls are getting ready to re-open the place and cousin Vinnie has disappeared in the back booth again.
Welcome aboard this month´s Diner!
I swept and mopped out the corners. I also {ugh} cleaned the restroom, which noone seems to want to do.
[#welcome] one and all!
Have a great evening!
Hi Guys,
I set the alarm clock, just to be in early (and beat Galaxy in facilitating the move [:D]) No, it is just a bad case of insomnia again…
Did not make it to this place yesterday., so a belated [bday] to WisconsinRailfan! Will catch up on what´s going on a little later - during the day )it´s 3.30 am over here).
Zoe, just a night cap for me and off I am, please.
We were talking about moving to Canada for August. It’s hot here.
Der… I saw the video you posted alread. I hope others like it too. Since it’s German, Ulrich may be interested. Alos, Der, the photo of the Nashville and Eastern train is familiar to me. My in-law’s house is only about 1/4 mile from teh N&E track.
Thanks Ulrich . Someone please tell Vinnie it is a federal offense to hit/beat me. I’m 74 . I will try to visit more often as as Vinnie cools it. We take grandson back to his dad tomorrow. He is a trip. Loves to watch Thomas The Train and friends on tv. Then its The Wiggles and he dances with them. Runs , does not walk. Monday I get back to work. Need to as this hernia has put us in a deep hole. Could be worse. Duke thanks for the pics. How did you get so lucky with that CFO of yours? Ride safe, rubber side down.
Prayers and blessings to all.
Flip
Yawwwn, glad Vinnie didn’t notice me sleeping upon departure. The rhythm of the rails kept me sound asleep, too. So, where is this place? Ahh, smell the coffee maker already at work. I’ll have a decaf in a SOUTHERN mug, please.
Cheers! [C):-)] Rob
Evenin’…
Whoa! I knew we had talked about moving to Canada for the month of August in hopes it would be a bit cooler, but really! Moosonee??? Isn’t THAT just a bit far out??? Well at least it is on a siding of the Ontario Northland Railway, and has a nice view of the harbor.
What, my passport, well of course I have my passport with me! Sheesh!
Flo just a cup of decaf for me this evenin’. BTW does this mean we all have to have hard eggs, and burned steaks for the month? I was afraid of THAT…
Get to do the docent thing again tomorrow for regular hours at the museum, so I best be finding a bunk for the night.
Have a good one!

Hey guys, handbrakes are pinned down, derails are on the tracks and the wheel chocks are locked on, I’d say we are safe.
Well, a family friend got broke into last night. Someone went into his barn, stole Ipod earbuds, but not the ipod, got into the safe and stole some cash, but not a gun that was in there. and some other stuff. We all think that it was some kid who was driving around saying he was an intern selling books. The kid acted funny, but we have 2 large dogs and a bipolar cat. Well, I’m going to check everything and make sure that if the moron comes back around, he ain’t getting nothin’
So we’re in Moosonee, Ontario for August, eh… That Ulrich is really terrific with that little GE 44T. Amazing. Any chance we’ll see a moose on Moosonee? … Any beavers out there, too? … Cool.
“Coffee and a Good Morning to all~”
And a very special morning to you Ulrich. Its getting late into the evening here, and I figured you’d be up by now. As far as the weather, well its been on the chilly side. The sun comes out alittle past noon.
The house is all quiet now with the kids and “Buddy” the African Lion Hound gone. I asked Jeanne, “Is this what we have to look forward to?.. Grandkids and all?”
That dawg destroyed a few things around the house. It really upset the whole balance of everyone~
He looked like such an Angel~
Barry you asked If we ‘foster animals’ or something. Gheesh… where would I begin. Birds, South American Barking Tree Frog, fish (two koi ponds) (Buddy loved it), 3 dogs (not counting Buddy) 5 cats (used to be 6 cats) hamsters, rabbits. Anything we brought that we could save. A blind cat, a cat with a broken leg, two abondoned kittens left for dead in a box, snakes and lizards. Someone asked if a Ridgeback had to have the ridge, no… and that why I believe the pups were turned into a shelter and a bit young. It would detract from the litter and then you would/could not command a higher price.
Now as far as my layout goes… well I’d rather not say much. How bout one pic?
Didja put up the blue flag/blue light protection as well??? Might also remind the muckety-mucks we’ll be occupying this track and not to make any shoves our way…
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood YAAAAAAAAAAWN!!! Mornin’
Sedation please, and thank-you.
Another busy day gathering content for THAT, it was it was. I interviewed a guy who does “Cowboy Action Shooting.” Neat guy, really neat bang-bangs and boom-sticks! [8D][:-,] I also knocked-out a double-feature about the demise of the Iowa City West baseball team at State, and another article THAT THAT thinks she’ll need come Monday… gee, THAT’s tomorrow…now…THAT means later TODAY I’ll have to motate the stuff to Maggie the Creepy Proofreader Girl. [:O][alien][X-)]
TEEN STEAM: If’n I didn’t say it before…THAT is a sweet-lookin’ H you’ve got there. [tup][tup]
GALAXY: I haven’t seen a medication list like THAT in a few years. Amazingly, I remembered what most of 'em are for. Yeah…you “could” have some “interaction issues” there. Keep a sharp eye on your doc(s) so THAT they keep a sharp eye on you!
DER JOHN: THAT track machine looks like the brain child of a Dr. Seuss fan! Wasn’t he one for fanciful machines THAT would do dozens upon dozens of functions??? I wonder what OSHA would think of some of the w**k stations/riding positions on the creation… Pretty dang cool video, thanks for showin’ it!
So…how soon before you think you might have a functional unit scratchbuilt in N-sane Scale???[swg]
JIM: You asked about one of the CNW geep pics. The first was shot in '96 post-BORG assimilation, what I call the Chicago and Union Pacific Northwestern days. The shot with all the other locomotives and bright yellow grain ho
And Porcupine and Lynx and Bobcats and maybe the occasional Black Bear and the occasional Deer as well as an Eastern Cougar----[:D]
Good Morniing—we had a little tiny dribblebit show up this morning–just enough to make it even more sticky out–supposed to get up to 85F and be humid again.
Anyways, just to catch up with yesterday, Audrey is doing better this morning-she got hit by an inattentive driver dweeb yesterday morning while out taking her morning walk. Guy was paying more attention to his cellphone while driving rather quickly down the street–Audrey tried to get out of the way but the guy swerved right into her, hit her then clobbered a tree–he’s getting charged with reckless driving and driving while using a cellphone. Audrey ended up with a sprained lag and a broken wrist out of it–thank goodness it was not worse!![:O] But as I posted on the previous diner this nincumpoop had to use his cellphone while driving[soapbox] which made me go [banghead] He was 56 yr old–thought he knew better----[:(!]
Welp—got some more w**k today so I better get ready to do dis—
Zoe, I’ll have a breakfast bagel as well as my bucket of coffee please—I’ll be at the RC for a bit before I toddle off to w**k[:-^]
Barry: Sorry to hear about Audrey but glad she came out all right for the most part. In my opinion the guy got off too lightly. The idiot should be tied down over an ant hill!
Good morning. It’s 77 and sunny. The high will be 105 and it will be mostly sunny. The heat index will be 112.
Nothing going on today. I’ll be staying inside as much as possible today due to the high temps outside. Let’s see, stay inside where it’s cool or go outside and get roasted? I opt for staying in. Got the GP30’s patched yesterday. One for the L&A and the other for Zorin Industries. Any Bond fan should recognize that name from ‘A view to a kill’, and it’s literally a patch over a patch.
Mornin’ eh?
I am just poping in to grab a breakfast bagel and a cup of dark roast coffee to go…eh? Now THAT we be up in Ontario, we best observe the local customs, eh? Don’t want to be too foreign sounding, eh.
Got to be going. To the museum for duty, eh.
Later, eh!
73, eh![:-^][:D]
Good morning. I see we have a new place. [dinner]
Well the “potash” sold last night, plus I have a few more selling right now. So…That means I need to get the cars packed up. Maybe I should get back into weathering cars. Keeps me fresh in it (weathering side), plus the money helps.
**Barry…**Sorry about your wife. I hope she gets better. People honestly just can’t drive anymore.
**Jeff…**Good looking engine.
I will pop back in later. I think the basement is calling me!!
Ditto to the belated happy birthday for Wisconsin Railfan!
I didn’t make it in yesterday either. I had driver’s ed for 8 hours (have two three hour driving periods tomorrow and tuesday as well), and then we went to my sister’s friend’s family’s lakehouse on Lake Murray. that was FUN. Ate some good food and then went tubing; her dad has a boat with a Chevy 350 in it (named Breaking Dawn because my sister’s friend and her mom convinced him to b/c of Twilight lol) and we were tubing behind that. I now want a boat
Jim, I did learn a lot, and some of those lessons I can’t apply unless I start over. I expect to reuse all the kits/built ups etc, but as far as the scratchbuilt buildings go, they’re down the drain. Which is just as well; I only have one scratchbuilt industry planned, and I have an idea of what I want it to look like, but I’ll be doing some research to make it look really awesome.
Barry, that really sucks man. The Mythbusters (and my dad says Car and Driver as well) did tests that showed talking on a cell phone is just as imparing as driving drunk.
Well y’all have a good one, I’ve gotta leave the diner for church in about 20 minutes, but I’ll hang aroudn and see who comes in before I gotta leave
Good Morning. Er, I mean… How’s it goin’ eh!
Coffee and the MOW breakfast special seems appropriate thank you. Over easy Thanks. Wow it didn’t take near as long to get here as I thought it would. Canada’s nice. Where are we? Moose Knee? Beautiful spot Ulrich. I see why so many came her in the 60’s and 70’s[:-^]. Think there’s any logging going on around here for Rob to check out?
Well it seems I missed a B-day. [bday] Wisconsin Railfan!
Duke- Nice photos. I’ve tossed the idea around of one of my tunnel openings to not have a portal. I think I will on one that is more or less difficult to view, but you can see it.
Der- Great video, very interesting.
Say, what’s taking so long with my Breakfast?
Barry- Glad to hear Audrey escaped with just minor injuries. Saaaaay, you don’t suppose she is terrified of street crossings now do you? I think I see a way to “make” some Model Railroad Money.[:-,]
Chris- I was thinking of the “situations” of the workers myself. The guy leaning up against the tie layer with his hands in the machine for the most part, ( just a few feet to the right of the sign saying don’t put your hands in the machine) and especially the guys riding on the little seats placing the … whatever those things are called. I like the job where you just walk along and straighten the clippy loop things.
Someone mentioned Ant Hill. We don’t have to watch out for Fire Ants up here do we? Whew! Good. Hate 'em.
Got the floor laid yesterday in the “Poooowder Room” and the fixtures purchased and today I will grout the floor. And do other things until I can set the fixtures. THAT most likely won’t be until Monday or Tuesday due to previous engagements such as w**k.
Ah! My foods here finally. I guess new places always do slow the kitchen down for a little bit right after the move. Getting settled and all…what is this?
Good morning, eh …
I’ll have a Tim Horton’s capacino in a CN mug, eh. Also, I’ll have a TH original donut, please, eh.
What’s that! .?? ??..Yikes! … I’m a Great Northern fan as well as a CB&Q fan. …Did you see that GP30?.. I’ll cry… Sob, Sob. … Pass the tissues …
Keith … That’s some neat work you are doing with push pins. You may find it works best to have a transition curve between the straight track and the curve. Layout planners often include a section of track that is changing from straight to curve. I usually have a section with a very wide radius for my transition section before getting to the fully curved track. Doing this helps keep couplers from separating as cars enter curved track.
Good Afternoon,
fairly hot and sticky outside, as a series of thunderstorms is coming along our way. Not as bad as in July, but bad enough to feel uncomfortable.
Flo, I´ll have a RBF to cool down a liitle, thank you.
Barry - I am glad Audrey is back with you! Yikes, I don´t even want to imagine what could have happened. Using a cell phone while driving is a no no over here, but the fines are not stiff enough to keep people from doing it. I don´t even have one - too expensive. I don´t like cell phones, it is a kind of dog leash in my opinion. You see the guys at the airport, or train station or gas station - I bet more than 90 % of each conversation goes like this “Honey, I am at (fill in location)”…
Keith - that is an awesome “pin parade” you have done there! My colors also! I like blue and yellow, that´s why I like the old ARR paint scheme [:D]
Today´s been a slow day, just watched some old (and classic) Westerns on TV. Would probably look and sound funny to you guys to see John Wayne speaking German [(-D] At least they used the same voice for all of his movies…
Sawyer - I somehow can understand, that your current layout is starting to “bore” you, especially, when you encounter problems running a train. But that new layout you have in mind is not so much different from what you are doing now, so I wonder what you gain by taking your current layout down and building the new one. Would it not be better to try to “beef up” the track and get it running smoothly? I am not against that plan, but I´d just like to invite you to give that some more thought. Actually, I am quite fond of your current layout.
Jeff - Zorin Industries? Wasn´t that one of the bad guys in an old James Bond movie with Sean Connery?
Galaxy - that list of meds you are on is just frightening. Not so long ago, my list would have been as long as yours, but I changed doctors and there is only one little pill left. Took me a while, but I feel mu
Barry, I know what you mean. I hate it when people talk on their cell phones while driving. And then those little bluetooth doo hickys, When I drive through New Lenox, I have to do by about 50 of them All in their fancy Lexus, BMW, Mercedes Benz and the occasional Jeep that has never seen mud a day in its life. (Mine can’t say that.)
Chris, thanks, My dad actually bought the Farmall from a guy we used to do business with. That was the first purchase he made without telling my mom when he did tell her, he thought he was going to get yelled at, he did because my mom was going to buy it for his 50th birthday. He gave it to me because I was doing all the paint and repair work on it. Now I am the only Farmall guy at my school and the second one within about 20 miles.
