Elliot´s Trackside Diner May 2011 - Welcome Aboard, Everybody!

Yup. #8 glass of Miralax and the running has begun…

Moviprep is old news now done OTC with Magnesium Citrate {drank 1 bottle last night to prep for today} and now 8 glasses every 15 mins of Miralax, followed by two glasses of h2o.

Thought I had some gas…forgot I’ve been drinking laxative for the past 1 3/4 hours…but made it in time.

Enough of that. Suffice it to say the running has begun, and he’s off…by a bubble slightly to the left…

NERM!!! good to see you back…almost forgot about you…figured school was keeping you busy.

Amazing! I haven’t been in here at night lately as it was always so S L O W or wouldn’t load at all…but seems to be working fine…

Since I can’t have any anyway, I think I’ll have teh Chef’s salad, TBone Steak, Potatoes au Gratin, steamed asparagus and a big piece of tripple chocolate Double fudge cake for dessert.

Ok, now I’m gonna be sick…

Later

Evening All,

Flo I would love a piece of Blackberry Cobbler warmed up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a coffee.

Not much has happened at w**k today, just the normal stuff. Tomorrow I have several errands to run first thing then hope to paint the top of my layout, cook dinner then attend a club business meeting. Hopefully Friday with be structure modeling day.

I have developed a problem on my laptop. For some reason it appears Internet Explorer is not loading all the way. I ran a full virus check w/o any issues and I have reset the computer back a month when it was working fine but still no go[D)][|(]. I will get MOH to look at it tomorrow to see if she can figure it out. She is pretty tech savy.

Everyone have a good night.

Evening, all. I’ll have the lowfat barbeque bacon cheesburger and no-carb curly fries with a fat-free chocolate shake, please.

I had quite the day today. Was in Lafayette, IN on business and took a few minutes (not on the Company clock, of course) to go seek out the location of the former Monon Lafayette Shops. Boy did I find it! Snapped a couple of photos - I had to use the digital zoom on my phone so the picture quality ain’t what it could be.

Spotted the old coaling tower, which is pretty neat that it’s there at all since the Monon was completely dieselized by 1948

Plus the surviving Shops buildings

One of the structures is the paint shop, not sure about the other. The place has certainly seen better days, but I was totally geeked up seeing the remnants of the facility.

After that I dropped by Hawkins Rail (one of my favorite places on the planet), where I finally expended a gift certificate I’d received as a Christmas gift last December. Picked up some pieces of various rolling stock. Of course I, uh, ahem, I wasn’t, shall we say, completely accurate with my running total as I collected stuff off the shelves and overspent the gift certificate a little. [}:)] My wife expressed her opinion about that after I got home…

In my book, that’s still a pretty good day…

Jim

Thanks. The web address isn’t working which is why I have quoted it.

The Lone Geep

Meatloaf dinner, please.

***Jim, ever modelled that coaling tower? Has a neat look about it.

Turns out it’s our neighbor’s church group coming out here on Sat. to help cut up fallen trees and he plans on bringing a piece of heavy equipment, perhaps his trackhoe. Sure would make a few of the larger trees easier to deal with.

Evening all. Nothing for me, thanks

Had a rough game today. We played the town where I used to play on the youth team, so I knew a lot of the guys. We got destroyed, 16-4. We’ll see what happens with tomorrow’s game; I don’t know how they are.

Also, I got ACT scores back (took them in April). For those that don’t know how the system works, you can get a score between one and 36 on each of the four sections. They are averaged together and that is your composite score. I got a 33 on English, a 32 on Math, a 33 on Reading, and a 31 on Science. When averaged together, my composite score was 32.
My essay, however, was apparently not that great. I got a 6 out of 12. Here are the comments on my score report:
Comments on Your Essay: Your essay responded to the prompt by taking a clear position on the issue. Your essay used some specific details, reasons, and examples, but it needed more of them.”
To me, THAT sounds like it was pretty good, and the comments made it sound like it would have been higher than a 6. Oh well, I’m still pleased with my scores!

SAT’s on the other hand, I’m somewhat concerned about. I’m taking them on Saturday, and my PSAT’s were not that great (for me). However, even if I don’t end up doing that well, I can always retake the SAT, or I could just send my ACT scores.

Now catching up on posts from Page 6 to now…

Monon Jim, thanks a lot, but, sorry, I should have been a little clearer on the circumstances.

Last summer, I worked two jobs, on checking badges on the beach 10-4 on weekends, and bussing tables at a restaraunt 5-11ish various days, but almost every Saturday and Sunday. Towards the summer, I started waiting at the restaraunt, and my number of hours increased. Even before the increase, it was hard working from (basically) 10am-11pm two nights a week. This year, I’m planning on waiting at the restaraunt and not doing the badge checking. It’s no

Good Morning ! from Tipton IN.

Good Morning!

We are currently having sun out there…yes…that strange yellow orb has showed itself here…and it will get to 64F today…[swg]

Boy, did I get good news…so far everything I’ve been doing is working…I actually lost some more weight from me …YAY!!![swg]

Anyway…no Flo, I am quite OK…I am merely a happy camper here…[:-^]

Today we will be going to the LHS to pick up some more things there…plus look at some rivet decals…[:-^]

I’ll have a coffee and a breakfast platter please…I’ll be over at the RC for a bit

Morning guys

well today is “the proceedure” so you all know what I will be doing!

'nuff said…leave for hospital in less than 3 hours.

Havea great one guys!

Good Morning to one and all,

Best Wishes Galaxy, happy thoughts coming your way from Montana this morning.

Having my first cup of coffee bright and early at 6am, taking my wife and mother-in-law fishing this morning and then back to work on my layout. Hoping to lay my first piece of track in over a year and maybe have a loco running by the end of the day.

Wayne

Good Morning,

I need help, No, you don’t need a degree to help me out. Since Champion Decals went under I need help finding Pre-1959 PRR, BLE, and NYC decals. Microscale and Walther’s only handle the Post-1960 decals.

Rob,

Good Morning!! Coffee and a warm caramel roll with chopped pecans please. Thank you. What? Oh yes Dark Roast please. After I got hooked on the stuff, it’s my flavor of choice now. Uh, unless I say other wise of course. Hey, ya never know what the mood will be like on any given morning.

Supposed to be a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 65 today, then a 60% chanceT-storms tonight before 1am. Nothing severe is expected. But hey, 70’s from tomorrow on out and supposed to be the 80’s Tuesday….[8D]

Bama? Ryan? You guys out there? Zoe, leave a pie on the counter as bait for PC. See if that brings him in.

Welp, I got NOTHING done yesterday I wanted. Spent 4 hourse fixing the sump pump, a normal ten minute job. Froze screw. Chisel drill, tap, Mr Murphy stopped by a copuple times. You know the deal, but it was the trying to avoid all that that cost all the time. Didn’t have a 10-24 screw so to Big-R to get ONE, then itwas done. Kicker was when I got out there to the house and actually looked at the pump and a proper diagnosis as opposed to a " yup, ain’t pumpin’. Probably the 34 year old pump". It wasn’t the pump. ‘Twas the backflow valve. Flapper broke and I guess was going flat up and falling flat down. So, back to town to get a one way valve. It, of course, was not as tall as the old one so, that took some shifting around to make it fit the gap created by the removal of the old one. [sigh]Love it. I did get some grass picked up off the back yard. Just the side and a pile in the way back corner to go.

Ken- More like I trust you to tell me you got it than the PO[(-D]. Actually, it would be the first item I ever mailed something that didn’t make it. Always a first I guess. Real reason was I didn’t want to trouble you with a tri

Morning Folks. Yawn

Flo, Diet Dew

Lee I am jealous as well, with me sleeping of a 15 year old lumpy couch. I won the King Mattress set from Kingsdown when I was working at the Evil places. I was the Kingsdown salesperson of the year in the St Louis Distract for 4 years in a row.

Monon Jim Thanks for the Monon Fix Of The Day! To bad you did not have a real camera with you. What was the approximate address? I would like to Goggle Earth the site.

Train Front Finally working on the PK 1000 F units that I bought motors for a few months back. Motors are by Bear and while close to the PK motors, they will need a little work to fit the PK frame. Only one end of the Bear motor has mounting screws for the motor mount, the other end will need to be glued on. Plus the new motors electrical leads are just a tad wider then the PK’s. I will need grind out the chassis so they don’t hit the chassis.

See you all later today.

Ken

Good Morning All…Its sunny and cold here…weather guesser on TV says 80’s next week…I’ll have coffee and sweet roll please…thank you…

Monon Jim…enjoyed your Monon Photos…thanks for posting…

Ran trains for awhile this AM…got couplers on a NKP caboose and tryed it out…

You all have a good one…Jerry

Mornin’ everyone!

Zoe, I’ll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast. Oh. and a cup of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.

I am home from my twice yearly visit to the vampire… The gal doing the blood draw couldn’t find any veins in me so she dug around for a while (actually little pain involved) and then decided to start over and found one halfway down my forearm. In order to have the blood draw, I now had to produce my Green Hospital card, my insurance card, and a photo ID to prove that I wasn’t getting anything for free… I told the receptionist, Gee, I bet you get all kinds of people who wake up in morning, steal somebody’s signed lab work sheet, produce a fake green card, and insurance card just to have blood work done… I can just hear someone getting out of bed in the morning and saying, “Gee, I’d really love to have someone do blood work on me this morning… Yes, THAT would be a lot of fun…” Yep, can’t be too careful these days! I also told that her I had done the required fast and my next stop was to be Water Street Cafe downtown. She agreed they have the best breakfasts!!![:D] (In fact I had what I ordered above.)

As somebody already noticed there is a peculiar brightness in the form of a big yellow ball outside in the sky this morning. Currently 54°F under sunny skies. That is good so the folks sandbagging their Seneca Lake properties can wrk on a nice day and not have to wear rain slickers… Yep the lake is now at record levels and doing a number on the sandy shores in the high rent district. Hope to get the rest of the lawn mowed today as well as finish up some committee wrk that needed to be done a few days ago.

Hope you all have a great day!

Strong coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.

Have a great day y’all.

Good afternoon. It’s 71° and mostly sunny. The high is due to be 78° and, mostly sunny and comfortable.

Went to see my foot doc this morning. He’s pleased with the job I’m doing keeping the wound free of infection. Warmer weather is coming so I have to really be on guard. Went to Office of Motor Vehicles to renew my handicap parking permit. Guess what took longer. Nothing on the schedule today.

Good afternoon.

Glad to see each of you.

Good news from home in KY. The lake dropped six inches since yesterday. They can not allow much more out over the dam while the flooding on the Ohio River and the Mississippi River remains an emergency.

Lee… We are on the Cumberland River down stream from Nashville, TN and Clarksville, TN as it flows to the Ohio River. Our man-made lake is called Lake Barkley. … We are in the Land Between the Lakes region. The other lake, Kentucky Lake is man-made from the Tennessee River, and it is west of us.

James in Oz … I recall seeing videos of flooding Down Under a few months ago. Scary.

Cheers
