Copied from April Diner:

Got the wound vac dressing changed this morning. Spent most of the rest of the day looking up tech info online about some old memory expansion cards. I already have a manual for one. The others? Zip. Zero. Nada. Bop-kiss. I found enough online to figure them out and get them working right. On one I had to remove then re-seat the chips. That’s one bad thing about sockets. They corrode. One of them is what I call a throwaway board. All the chips are soldered on. If something on the board goes toes up just throw the board away and get another one.

Time to call it a night or rather a morning here. I have a doc appointment in the afternoon. See y’all later.

Good monring!

As Ulrich has stated, it is MAY DAY, MAY 1st!

Used to be anyway, on May Day, May 1st you gave the women in your life flowers!

I am up a bit early. Got up for the facilities and could not get back to sleep. will try again later.

Today I have therapy at mental health. That should be fun! {what did you do/how did you feel these last two weeks? well, I have been very sick for at least one of those weeks…}

Healing thoughts, prayers and energy for those in need…

Ulrich; here in the USA it seems at least two incomes are needed for any family {even one of just two people} to survive, and in many cases like around here, many people have more than one job! We have 3 incomes amonst the two of us alone. That is a foreign concept to those like my father, in whose day one man supported one family on one income with room to save for the future. We have had no hope of saving over the last 14 years together, and little hope of it now. What we may save will go to the higher cost of health care. Part time jobs have also become the norm so employers don’t have to pay health care expenses. A healthy work force is of no conern for them now. Even the state-issued health care package MOH has dwindled in coverage. It will cost us a fortune when MOH’s hip needs to be replaced, which will be sooner than later. We will probably easily reach the 10% cost of gross income we have to have to write off medical expenses on taxes!

I digress, and lament…

today’s quote:

I learn that ten percent of all the world’s species are parasitic insects. It is hard to believe. What if you were an inventor, and you made ten percent of your inventions in such a way that they could only work by harnessing, disfiguring, or totally destroying the other ninety percent? -Annie Dillard, author (b. 1945)

Raining like mad out there!

Make it a great day!

Good Evening everyone,

It is still April where I live. I am looking forward to May, even though April has been a great month. The highlights of April have been going to California for the Vex World Competition, and finishing my Modern World Studies course for this school year.

My brother is on a Vex IQ team, and they placed third in qualifying. Unfortunately in the finals the other team’s robot broke which dragged my bother’s team down. I am on a Vex VCR team, but we didn’t compete (didn’t build the robot in time). I found out next years competition, Vex Skyrise, it should be a fun challenge. I am also pushing for the team to meet more often to allow us to build the robot in time.

In Modern World Studies, my teacher gave lots of extra credit, and had to make some quizzes extra credit since you couldn’t find the answers in the curriculum (long story). Ironically, I had a 140% but then I took a unit test and a semester test and got 100% on both which dropped my grade to 116%. I find it frustrating, mentally, getting the best score possibly shouldn’t lower your grade (though mathmatically it makes sense). Oh well

Hopefully May will be better for everyone.

edit *Has any one else noticed that on the main page of the forum where it tells you how long ago the recent post have been made, it will say “1 hours”

Gidday Chloe, a fejioa smoothie please.
Ken, perhaps you were dreaming of this…
http://www.wimp.com/legohouse/
Kyle, the exams that I still have to sit from time to time require 70% for a pass, I regard a 71% mark as having studied too much, [swg] but even so, well done on your 116%.

Johnboy, I will add your neighbour to the rest of those who require
Thoughts and Best Wishes to all that need them

I forgot to add:

Healing thoughts, energies and prayers for those in need, and we have a lot of them here.

Also, thoughts for those in the south and on the east coast who suffered flooding in the 22" of rain that fell in 24 hours! 22" of snow is almost unimaginable, though a very capable senario here in the NE, let alone 22" of rain!

Make it a great day!

Good Afternoon!

I am taking a break from the hard work fun doing scenery on my layout.

Flo, coffee and a slice of that apple pie, please, with a topping of vanilla ice cream.

Galaxy - we a re enjoying calm Spring weather, partly cloudy, mostly sunny. Southern Germany is suffering from torrential rain, flood warnings were given in some areas.

Will be adding some more rock faces in a few moments. When that is done, the left part of the layout will have all the shore line completed [:D]

Well, I finally made up my mind about the camera. I bought it yesterday while we were out running errands. It’s a Nikon D5300 with 2 lenses. An 18-55 mm & a 55-300 mm. I’m extremely pleased with the photos I took in the house just playing around with it. Makes my old camera look like a toy. Can’t wait to use it outdoors while railfanning this weekend. Of course, the weather might not be too cooperative as the forecast is calling for rain through the wekend here. There is a lot of features on this camera that I doubt I will ever use, but time will tell. I may look into a photography class, I’m sure that will help. It was a bit of a budget buster, but I don’t see any locomotives or freight cars on the horizon for my collection, so that eases the pain somewhat. Oh wait, I do have 1 pre-order in for a transfer caboose from Bluford Shops. Not a big deal there.

Lots of chores to do around the house today, so I better get going. Everybody have a good one and stay safe…

Good morning. It’s 56° with 76% humidity. The high will be 72° with some clouds.

Nothing much going on today. I have a doc appointment this afternoon and that seems to be the highlight of my day thus far. I may squeeze in a game of Starfleet1 before then. Yesterday I was doing some work on a large memory board that was bought as junk, the problems of which were unresolved when I went to bed sometime after midnight. A little while ago I discovered that it’s working. Not only working but completely reassembled and a ‘Running Bear Enterprises’ label applied to it. And I don’t remember doing any of it.

Good Morning All…Coffee and a sweet roll Please…Thank You…Havn’t been in for a long time…How You all do’in? See alot of new faces…I am still plugging along on the Illinois and Southern and Illinois Central…in N scale but tore the old fiddle yard out and put in a HO scale small fiddle yard just 2 turnouts…

photo zPicture164_zps56061233.jpg

Trying to stay busy…been working with a young feller how is just starting in N scale…Well its sure is good to see You all…You All have a good one…Jerry

Mornin’ everyone!

Zoe, I’ll have a bowl of vanilla almond granola this morning and a few cups of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee in my FGLK mug…

Not feeling 100% the last couple of days… Couple nights ago I made up some speghetti sauce (Canned sauce doctored up to my specs) and had a nice spegetti dinner. By Morning it had gone through me… Last night I took the remaining sauce (about 3/4 of it) and made some goulash out of it and baked it in the oven… That went through me as well… I have to deduce that the sauce didn’t agree with me for some reason and since I am heading for a road trip to Canada tomorrow, I think the remainders will be disposed of in the trash and I shall have something more agreeable to eat tonight! I have been told that I have a cast iron gullet as it is seldom that anything disagrees with me so I guess I best avoid the stuff… [:-^]

Today is clean the house, run a bunch of errands, and pack for the trip day. As soon as I get the suitcase out Manét will start acting strange and meowing loudly. He often sits in the suitcase and stares at me to keep me from packling. They seem to know that “Daddy” is going away for a few days…

I best get at it as I have 2 days of w*rk to get done by mid afternoon…

Happy May day! I won’t say much about May Day as it really isn’t a festival that can be discussed here at the forum… [;)] I’ll just say the it gave Shakespeare some excellent bawdy lines in his plays! [:-^]

Later!

Ray that’s is exactly what our Burmese does. He’s so used to one of us being around that he just hates it when we get out the suitcase. I have to leave my housecoat on the bed for him so he feels better while we have abondended him.

Cheers

Dennis

I have the very same problem with raw tomato and to a lesser extent cooked tomato. I have gall bladder problems and think that has something to do with it.

Jeffrey: waking up on the floor, redoing a computer board and not remembering it, there was something else it seems to me you didn’t remember doing and i think it was like remotoring a train? you’re starting to worry me!

Well, had my therapy session at mental health, and see the psychaitrist for a grueling exam on the 15th. They finally go the transfers form the old mental health clinic and my regular doctor. Then I visited my father, didn’t stay too long as I didn’t feel like it. I’d rather be home where I can try a nap.

Since I am a homebody, that worries my therapist. I’d often not go out for days on end especialy during the winter. Isolationaism is not good especially for one who has attempted suicide afew times they say. i just feel comfy and safe at home and don’t like going out in the cold! Summer time is coming, I get out more, but these days I cannot walk things like I used to could, so even that is limited. It frustrates MOH when I am “done” with something/someplace after just an hour or two and/or have to sit frequently.

The solid food seems to be agreeing more today. But I am not rushing it by any means. Watch me put on the pounds agian in just as short a time frame.

well MOH will be very late tonight so I can go take a nap and tehn do dinner…alone. Not as much fun!

Well hte cat missed me, he met me at the door, that is rare for him to do with me, but he does it all the time for MOH, who brought him home!

Afternoon everyone, just got home from work. Interesting day today, a lot of WIC checks to use as payment, BOY ARE THOSE NOT FUN TO ENTER INTO THE SYSTEM! Otherwise it was an okay day. There are some interesting characters in the town I am working, but at least they are all mostly friendly-except for this little old lady who snapped at me when I had to get past here.

Jimmy: MOH has complained about WIC checks {Women, Infants and CHildren…special food needs for them for no cost for those in need, seperate from food stamps- for those who don’t know!} for a long time! Worst part is that the customer will have, say 5 WIC checks and a total of 20 items and will dump all 20 items onto the belt and make MOH sort out the individual items to go with the WIC checks! I HATE being behind some mohter or grandmother with WIC checks for the same reason! Perhaps someday MOH can quite the grocery store! The store where MOH is now has few people with WIC checks, so is now fortuante, but when worked in the innercity store, nearly EVERY other BODy had WIC!

It is now official! My system is REVOLTING against solid food! In more ways than one, but I won’t bore you wiht the details, at least I am not back to vomiting…YET

I have a half a chicken in the oven trying to bake it off, I am watching it like a hawk so it doesn’t burn, I set the oven for 25degrees cooler and the element seems to cycling on and off, but it sure DID get hot in a hurry{like up to temp in exactly 1 minute!}!

I don’t know if I will be able to eat it when it is done, though. I hope so.

Good Evening,

Johnboy, I sure hope that therapist can get your swallowing back on track. I can’t imagine how frustrating that must be.

Jerry, great to see you in the Diner!! Please stop back often as people have been wondering how you are doing.

We finally had a nice day with 15C and sun but we will be back to cloud and 10 tomorrow. I did get a little yard work done which was nice. Felt good to be doing something outside but I expect I will know about it tomorrow with a few stiff muscles.

We were down in Minnesota visiting our friends last weekend and had a very nice time despite the miserable weather. I have to say that the U.S. customs officers where we cross are very friendly. They give Robbie a milk bone most times and now he starts getting excited when we pull up to the customs house.

I did pick up my M.B. Klein order which wasn’t anything very exciting, mostly scenery materials and a couple of N scale vehicles, gas trucks and tractor trailers. I’m amazed at the very poor vehicle selection available in n scale. I guess my town will have to set as Sunday morning and early at that with the very small number of vehicles I have.

Well time to veg out and that means TV.

CN Charlie

Well, I went to town early this afternoon for my doc appointment. It went well. He’s happy with what he’s seen. I go back in a month for a general physical. When it was time to leave my van pulled off it’s specialty move and stranded me in town. Again. The battery went from charged to dead in less than ten seconds. I had to call my brother-in-law for a jump. Once the battery had a good charge on it the engine kicked right over. Definitely time for a new battery. I’m more than tired of this crap. I tested the mysteriously fixed memory card this morning. It tested as normal in all respects. I guess I can trust it.

Good morning All, a coffee will go down nicely thanks Chloe please.
Yeah, I went to order some H21 hopper kits and lo and behold, they were all sold out! You couldn’t believe how ticked I was, since I need a ton more Pennsy hoppers to serve my coal mine”,
Jimmy I didn’t want to bring this up in NP2626s kit list thread and run the risk of turning it into one of those useless angst ridded, chest beating, sackcloth and ashes threads and while they wll need redecaling for the PRR, and prehaps you may take the opportunity to decal them for the Austinville & Dynamite City, [swg] have a look here…

I am still modeling the PRR for all the feight and a majority of the Passenger cars. My AVDC will be a commuter rail, with limited freight service. The PRR still does almost all the coal shipment at the Dynamite City Mine, although the AVDC does have a limited (one a week or so) hopper car for the fuel company in the city of Dawston. Thanks for the link though, I will look into those.
