The Cursed SD 50 just might be heading down to the Sun Dances Shop! Got it all buttoned up and gave it a test craw, I would have gave it a test run, put craw was all it would do. Retrospect, I should have test ran the motor after I dropped it! [banghead]
Did break out the 2-10-2, good running old engine. Funny how I read the post of the main page about a 2-10-2 picking turnouts. Now mine just started doing it? [(-D] Figures, did not do it till I read the post.
Todd Did you enjoy the game last night?
Looks like it is going to be a 45 minute drive to work tonight, guess I better get some rest.
Yep I’m up, and moving, and already done my duty as an usher this morning at church… Guess I’ll have a hamburg while were in Berlin… I’ll wait 'till were in Hamburg to order a Berliner… or something like THAT. Oh, better have another cup of dark roast coffee. The pot of it drank before church didn’t even begin to wake me up.
Been a great weekend for model railroading around here! Great Meet and big crowd here at the house to see my layout yesterday and while I was opening the door for people coming to church this morning a lady who is a deacon came in and following right behind her was her FIL., C. I. Siebert Jr. MMR #62. He is well into his 90’s. Mr. Siebert was the first person to be awarded the MMR using traction for his layout. He will be coming over to visit the SLOW sometime soon.
I’ll think I’ll go down cellar, turn on the heat, and stare at the layout for a while to see if I can figure what 3 things need to be done first… THAT is called a Triority!
***Ken, so sorry for your loss of Tiffany. You were so good to her.
***Everyone, THANK YOU all very much for the kind, heartfelt condolences. I am not answering e-mails, so just know that I appreciate each and every one you for sending them. What a grand group of kind souls we have here in the Diner. Spent over an hour reading all the posts. That is a mighty train parked beside the farm here. And all that motive power, that sure is appropriate. I’ll try to drop by now and then, but this is a day to day survival thing for me and it is going to be a very long road full of challenges ahead. The funeral/ceremony was Friday, but her ashes are here with me now. At some point I will spread them on the farm. Just trying to stay out of the hospital, as that spot in the pectoral has hardened and swollen up some. It will have to subside on it’s own. Sure can’t afford an ER trip.
Cup of hot chocolate for me. Can’t seem to get warm here today. I will light a fire in the wood stove later tonight to take the chill off.
Rob, good to see you in here. I have some idea of what you are going through being a widower myself. Know you are in my prayers! Take care of yourself, we all think a lot of you around these parts you know!
Just got an email earlier today that made my day. One the division members wrote to thank me for putting on a great Meet yesterday. He mentioned that the recent meets have been a lot of fun and his interest in the local NMRA Division was growing again… THAT is good to hear as I am having a lot of fun myself doing this kind of thing. Also got a thank you from the museum where we held the Meet saying what a great day they had and inviting us back again. Always good to get feedback, and really nice to get positive feedback! [:D]
Hope you all have a great day! I’m back to putting together a model.
Rob - Very happy to see you back. Our very best to you.
Ray - Also very happy to hear your meet and open house went well. If fact, it sounds like they went much better than that. You do realize you have probable been now named the permanent host forever after. And I think that’s a good and wise choice.
Things are going well at the nursing home for the wife. They have been working her pretty hard in both occupational therapy and physical therapy. It was a beautiful afternoon here in Pittsburgh, so I wheeled her outside for about 30 minutes to get some fresh air and some sunshine. Her and I have also been working out this weekend by taking her down to one end of the building which is not very busy, and having her wheel herself up and down the hall by herself. I also taught her how to turn around without banging into the walls. Her therapist wanted us to do this so she can build up her arm and upper body strength in order to use a walker later. Because she doesn’t see well, she was a little hesitant at first, but has gotten more confident as we went along. I even set up some obstacles, carts and wheelchairs, for her to navigate around. The old girl did really well and is trying very hard.
I guess I better sign off for now and go get something to eat, as I will be heading back to visit again the evening.
The LION has been up in the train room. LIONS do not cuss, but they sure as heck can make a lot of noise roaring. It is a tiny space to work in but the main line is now reconnected and I ran a train on it. The power is fluky, but that has to be re-worked anyway. Now it is time to clean up for Vespers and then supper. Sunday evening around here is optimistically called a “buffet”, but what it really is is the leftover leftovers, sometimes called leftover’s last stand, but the revenge of the leftovers is closer to the mark. Maybe I’ll come back to the diner for some ice cream later.
Rob: Good to see you back here again…take care…[angel]
Well(very murky waters therein)…it has been an interesting day…things were coming apart/not working/network freezing/stuff be flappin’ around…just a barrel of larfs around here…[|(]…I think out of the full day we only got maybe 1/4 of what we needed done done……now tomorrow however…
Aside from all that snarkiness and grump producing stuff we actually had a sunny day today…and I actually manged to get out in it for a bit of a walk…seeing as how I could do nothing else with frozen networks at w**k……and went into a couple of used record shops we still have here…and found a couple of records of some early diesel sounds…ALCO’s, GM’s and such…even a CAT powered thing is in this…
Chloe, I’ll have a 76oz Porterhouse steak with ALL the trimmings[:-,][:-^]…a barrel of RBF…and a pie rack with 4 SRP’s as well please…I’ll be at the corner booth …[:-,][dinner][:-^]
Rob, I’ve been thinking of you a lot and hope that you are coping ok. Sure wish you were closer to all of us as I know you’d have many wiling volunteers for farm chores.
Potent migraine meds helped ease the pain, FINALLY.
ROB- glad to see you stopped in. Day to Day for now is just fine. Do try and stay out of the hospital. We have enough prayers going your way, without adding another candle for yourself too. [angel]
Tomorrow have make sun while the hay shines. Hopefully Migraine won’t be wracking my head with pain again.
Evening Folks. Sure wish we had a tired smiley faces.
Flo, Beer please.
Got there at 4:00 PM and they let me go at 8:15. Reason Dave let me go when I told him I need to step out to my car and take a low sugar chewable tablet. By 8:00 I have normally had dinner so I will need to adjust my eating habits. I hated I need to ask, just hope he does not think I will be weak. But I was glad to get the heck out of there, mainly because I spent most of my time just standing around.
Bottom of my feet burn, by legs and joints feel fine at this point. New shoe inserts will help, these are over a year old. They have no where for the counter people to sit. Now I know why, Company thinks if the sales people and manager have a places to sit they will not get up to help a customer. Personally, I think a bad employee will not get up to help a customer. A good one will just have a little more bounces in there step when they have a customer.
I start my training Monday and report to the store I will be trained at 9:00 AM. Guess I will be working to closing and getting out around 10:00 PM. Training should last 2 weeks, I will not earn any commission. That I understand, I am going to be slowing down the people that help me so they will get credit for my sales.
After I learn there computer system (been told it sucks, you hit the enter key it wipes out all the information) that will be the biggest hurtle, when I can do it I get my store. I all so get a $2,000.00 raise a year, while that is not a lot, I was happy with the base I am starting with.
New Tire Smell? Most of us know that new tires has a smell to them. Let me tell you, you go in a room with 2,000 tires (think Dave meant 22,000 in St Louis) they down right stink! Guess I should think of it as the smell on money, but just stinks for now!
