Once again, sorry if I sound short but could someone clue me in as to how this place works? Seems I made a wrong turn somewhere…
Wipe your feet!!!
The diner has been all polished and painted!
The undercarriage has been updated and the A/C turned on!
Enjoy!
Thats good, it is gonna get pretty steamy here tomorrow.
As they say in South Africa, “kululu Impadada”!

My family offered to pay for my next Star Trek series purchase so I’ve ordered Star Trek: Enterprise, the complete series. That’s nearly $200. Glad they’re paying for it.
This is an off-topic thread where people come to talk about their day, what they’ve done or are going to do in the hobby or any other aspect of their lives.
Once a month the diner gets closed. ANd reopens for the new month.
The real reason is the thread carries to many posts and drags down on bandwidth, so the Forum Leaders used to close it when it got to be around 60 pages in length. Then it was decided that since we tend to reach 60 some pages about the end of the month, we would open a new thread every month.
Now, the rules are simple,it is free to join, and it is basically the only thread allowed where we can communicate our daily lives, stresses, highs and lows, ups and downs and not have the thread deleted. you may have a [C], a [B], or a [D] if you like and eat some [^] to go with it. All “food” you order here has no calories and is always free, unless you have to pay. see below:
If you get your post on the top of the page…whip out your “imaginary Credit Card” to “pay for all the diners who come in and post on that page”.
the waitresses rely on good tips and usually deserve a healthy 20%.
Cousin Vinnie over there tends to keep order so you want to be on his good side. Then there’s Barry. he’s another story.
Come in, sit down, tell us about yourself and your day.
There is no secret handshake or code words, no dues {except to pay if you get top page honors}.
There is NO foul language here and “work” is considered a 4 letter word often abbreviated as “w**k”.
Try to steer clear of “fire topics” like politics, and religion.
Have fun and enjoy!
Hey, you guys forgot to throw the switch back to normal. I got it, and Derail and blue flag’s set.
Out of school for summer. Need to replace the rear bumper.
Got rear ended not ten minutes after school got out. Some guy hit me good and me and my buddy looked around thinking what the *&## Tomorrow the replacement should be here, so my Dad can paint it and a small piece of molding. Me and my buddy were the only ones who got out of the car. Cop was there and didn’t do a dang thing. As soon as I can find the guy’s insurance policy (If he even has one) and will turn it in. Not my fault.
I like rear enders…we had one not too long ago when some dude ran into my car from behind going into a parking lot at the mall here…turned out he did not carry insurance, nor a drivers license, and, on top of all else was impaired in a stolen car…
Anyhow…Gooooooodd Evening!!
We made it through our very first heat alert day today…it got to 85F with the heat index at 107F…only now are the clouds coming in…
Nice digs here…too bad it is so dark e can’t identify where we are here…
Chloe, I’ll have a superdeluxburger platter with a large tub of RBF please…I’ll be at the corner booth getting cooled off…
Hi back again.
Ray- Sorry, I have a list of screen names and real names and I did not have it handy. No offense I know it is brutal hot here in the summer (11 months of the year).
Teen Steam- What grade are you going into?
Jeff- Although not a “Trekkie” I have the full Enterprise series on DVD. I recieved it a couple of years ago for XMAS. I really like SciFi a lot.
Curt- Class of 2012. Senior baby! [swg] I ran out of School today doing the Dukes of Hazard yell. Sad part was that my school is in the city. I’m one of three country boys. Got some funny looks in the hallway

Good evening Diners: A black tea would be good, thanks Zoe.
Vincent:
…nice to have that kind of room - I’ve never dealt with plugs except to cut them off decoders picked up cheap that had them[oX)][:o)]
Ray:
…but of course it is! [(-D] We actually had a sunny day - and NOTHING like 90˚, with a lowish humidity. Now, as to locale, I’d suggest Truro. You get the mixed freight traffic from / to Cape Breton, as well as CN freight - a very model-able local turn with power that would make even RobbyP happy for weathering; and then there’s the Atlantic - the oldest continuously running passenger service on the continent, currently served by VIA Rail. On top of that, a small town atmosphere, but with some Big Box stores for those who must. One big strike against, the only LHS “Uneeda Hobby” folded years ago. There are at least 3 Tim Hortons, one of which is small storefront operation. Not unique, but unusual - and the sort of Tims I’m putting in my city scene.
Sfb:and au contraire, you made just exactly the right turn! This is a "There’s no “Off Topic” thread that has a model railroad / Railfaning theme based on a 50s Diner set in an old rail car. Subjects range far and wide, and so long as we keep it polite, a-political and non-sectarian / non-proselytizing the mods treat us kindly. Work is considered by many a bad word, and many use w**k - but since I’m retired I’m not afraid to spell it out.(especially as for me it’s more work to hunt for the
Evenin’ diners!
Flo, just a decaf for me tonight.
Here it is almost 11PM and it is still in the mid 70’s outside. Sure glad the Air Conditioner here in the diner has been fixed. Nice to be able to cool down a bit… Where ever we are… Where are we BTW? Huh? Don’t know? THAT makes two if us.
Barry, who was THAT? New guy eh? Hi new guy! Welcome to the diner! You got a name? Something a bit shorter maybe we can refer to when we want to talk to you?
Curt, not a problem! I sometimes have to wear a name tag to know who I am anyway. I always wear them upside down to make it easier to read them. (BTW my name is down in my signature…)
I see John (Der) explained the diner rules and did the introductions earlier…
I’ve been doing some remembering of stuff about the retired teacher (Librarian) who passed away a couple days ago. My favorite was about a 6th. grade Social Studies teacher who would, when he took the kids up to the library in the Middle School to do some research for the first time every year, tell his class, “Now remember when we are in the library that the librarian, Mr. McHale, is very hard of hearing. So when you speak to him please talk loudly and slowly!” They always did… Took Mr. McHale several years to figure out why that class was always yelling at him in the library. He also used to tell his class that the Aid that worked in the library (who was super obnoxious) was Mr. McHales wife… Lots of fun when the mood got out of hand, should we say…[;)] “I am Not His Wife, why would you think THAT… Stupid kids!!!” You know today we would get fired for most any of the stuff we used to do back then. I remember when the Principle found out about the whole thi
Now where the heck are we?
Flo, I take a beer please.
Work Front, close but no Cigar. I am still stunned by how bad this Memorial Day Weekend was! [:^)] Memorial Day Weekend is normally Hugh! With 4 days to go all I need to get delivered was a mere $5000.00, should be a shoe in. Had the store well stocked, but only had 10 customers in 4 days? [:-^]
Finished up the month with $48,895.69 and short $1104.31 to hit the needed $50,000.00 mark and the $1,000.00 Bonus. [|(] Just to finishes the day off just right, I was sitting out side and a Bird Crapped on me! Yep, seem like a fitting ending to this month. [:-^]
Well, it could be worst I guess. I should get the $500.00 Bonus for hitting $45,000.00 and around $180.00 in commission. Having Shaun with me now on Saturdays did cost me $250.00 in commission. It is not a two man store, might be time to poke around and see if there is any greener grass. Other words look for a better job.
I do like working for this company, but with ha
Ray- My condolences to her family. I’m glad she recalls such fond memories for you.
Ken- So close and yet so far. It makes it so much worse that way. Am I snickering? No. I mean…sorry. Oh no! It has nothing to do with your job or the outcome of the month. Oh man I wanna say something but I can’t. I can’t resist…There’ll be next month and you are one heck of a salesman so don’t feel too bad.(can’t resist) Sorry you had a ( oh I can’t stop it) crappy day… ROFLMAO!!!
Oh my sides hurt. I best get to bed.
PFTIN
stumbles in, dusts off and takes a seat at the RC Gooooooood Evening all!!! Its been a long time since I’ve managed to make it in here. Glad that I was able to catch things up at the beginning of the month instead of trying to pull catch ups. Haven’t been able to do diddly with my MRR stuff. Been reading articles and doing research on the rail lines that I’m modelling. Also been looking into how many people I’m going to need to have with me to effectively run the railroad. I actually might need a little help on this one, so we’ll see.
On the w*rk front things have been up and down, mostly down. Seems as if things haven’t really picked up like “they” were planning.
Jeff cool to hear that you got Star Trek Enterprise. I’m not a trekkie per se, but I do like watching them, and I wouldn’t mind having all of the series.
Ken, sorry to hear that a bird did his “business” on you, have had that happen before, and I also feel you on missing sales marks at w*rk.
Welp, that’s about it for me, going to do my best to stop in here more often and much more regularly.
Later taters!
Puff, puff, pant - wheez!
First, a long swim, then a long run down the tracks to find the Diner at its June location. Where are we actually - have not figured out the place. Anyway, I made it and here I am!
Good Morning,
one day to go until it´s D-Day for me. That´s Discharge Day! I have started to count the hours!
Flo, I´ll have some coffee and a roll, please!
Bama - good to see you again, I got worried with all those tornadoes in your neck of the woods!
Ken - I am sorry you missed your target - so close, but yet so far! Seems to be the story of my life as well. I am sure the folks you are w*rking for appreciate what you are achieving!
Jeff - when Star Trek first was shown on German TV, I was a Trekkie myself, but I think I have outgrown it since [sigh]
Ray - my student days also saw some things which would mean trouble to today´s kids. People were probably more relaxed and the things we did as well, never harmful.
Sfb - [#welcome] from the other end of the Big Pond! You´ve come to the right place. Lots of good folks in here. Galaxy has given you the directions of this thread, so there is nothing to be added to that. Think of this place as a place where folks meet after (or even before) w*rk and share the day. And, yes, tea is also being served in here!
TSF - class of 2012, eh. I am class of ´74, Bainbridge Island High School. Crazy days, back then. Vietnam war, Watergate, Impeachment, oil crunch, Yom Kippur war in Israel, first love, first kiss - oh, well, memories, fond memories [:-^]
Galaxy - you make me all nervous. Can hardly wait until you disclose the new location!
Y´ all have a good one!
Good Morning ! from Tipton IN.
[8-|]
Good Morning,
Today is day 3 without rain since the snow melted, but it looks like rain this morning. Grass in the front yard is about 4” high.
Class of 85 here, Regan, Girls in Spandex, no internet, rotary dial phones, designer jeans for the girls.
Hi Ulrich! don’t run so hard…you just had MAJOR surgery!
The diner has moved to…naw, I’ll keep it a secret til afternoon time here. DOn’t be nervous, or as they say in NYC “Noivus” .
SUffice it to say if it wasn’t for the timewarp Dilithium Extrocad Crystals drive at the door, none of us would be here when it moves!
Naw, that gets done everytime…what doesn’t always get done is the “spiffy job” to refresh the diner and update it! sorry about your rear end…a plastic surgery job will help…
Well have to see the neurosurgeon this AM. Geting bounced between htem and the Center for pain relief over my bad back {arthritis and degenerative disc disease}.
Then chores here at home. Gonna host some friends for an old fashioned BBQ on Sat, so have some cleaning up to do…especially trhe enclosed porch…I found half of it yeterday, and the grill and propane tank.
OK. TTYALLl8R
