GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!!!
Today is the first Tuesday of October,
Tuesday, October 1, 2013!!!
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!
Today’s fun limmericks:
An artistic young man called Bo,
To an art class decided to go.
The teacher said, "Not right
Your canvas is all white!"
Said Bo, “T’is a polar bear in snow.”
Oh, BTW, before the cold really sets in, and while there are still a leaf or two to to “peep”, we will visit MAINE.
The State of MAINE that is.
The MAINE State in the NorthEast, New England States of the USA!
Our journey will venture us into the lower parts on the “DOwneaster” Amtrak train:
In Colonial times, Maine shipbuilders created some of the finest sailing vessels ever built, and called them “Downeasters.” The sleek and sophisticated service offered by the Downeaster takes you on a magical journey along the New England shoreline between Boston and Portland and on to Freeport and Brunswick. Now you can Experience More Maine.
Brunswick Station and Visitor Center is located within walking distance of shops, restaurants, hotels and the Bowdoin College Campus. It also serves as the gateway to Maine’s beautiful Midcoast region.
The Freeport train platform is just steps away from hundreds of national retailers, name-brand outlets and locally owned boutiques all set in a 19th century Maine Village. A variety of restaurants and the LL Bean Flagship Store are also within walking distance.
Traveling to Freeport and Brunswick from Boston along the Downeaster’s route, you’ll find additional historic colonial cities offering beautiful beaches, a thriving arts and entertainment scene, world-class shopping – and the best seafood in the world.
All other Amtrak services in Boston depart from South Station and Back Bay Station. Passengers transferring between the Downeaster and other Amtrak services must make their own arrangements for the transfer between stations in Boston. When transferring by taxi it is suggested that passengers connect to their continuing Amtrak train at South Station. Transfer by taxi is recommended for passengers traveling with significant amounts of luggage or y
Hello?
Hello?
Am I all alone in here? Its early, I know, but not as early as It was when I opened the diner!!!
Well, The Affordable Care Act {commonly referred to as “Obamacare”} Is here now.
I’ve been looking so we can get care for MOH, who is now insurance-less. I HAVE been checking the gov’t health care sites and checking the info. Now that it is officialy “open”, I cna see the rates , but that is ALL.
I can not find our Dr. OR even our Hospital as one “in the network”, even though they are choices!!! It comes up “not found”< SO either he is NOT in the network {possible} AND/OR our local Major Hospital center is NOt in the “network” but is listed as a choice?
Also, MOH’s income fluctuates, and a severe penalty can ensue if you fail to accurately state that for the subsidy for low income earners, which BTW, includes those up to 400% above poverty or about $46K/yr for a single!
It was supposed to be “easy to understand”, but I am confused as ever!!!
Gov’t stuff …
[sigh]
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and a couple sweet rolls and a bottle of Sweat please. Thanks.
Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
Tom- Watch yourself there. Hope you’re feeling better.
Hard to believe it’s October already. Today….who knows like Tom said, I don’t know why I plan anything so, we’ll just say today I’ll probably do some stuff. This is my full day of w*rk so I do know I’ll do that.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!
G’ Mornin Gang![C):-)]
October already! Glad we’re going to Maine. I was afraid we’d be going to Transylvania!!! [:O]
Of course with Halloween a month away, the stores are already packs with stuff, something I saw yesterday was musical, and just might be good for counter acting my neighbors singing Santa. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present, Miss Bone Jett.
I gotta get me one of these!! LOL!! [(-D]
Gotta roll for now, I’ll be back later with some project pics and a little tale of a tractor swap [;)]
‘Boning up’ on music lessons Karl?[(-D]
Good morning. It’s 72° with 100% humidity. The high will be 85° and will feel like 96°.

A very wet day yesterday. My father ended up having to reschedule his appointment as he found out there was no way he would be finished before noon. So we got some things done here during the morning then set off for Oakdale at 11am. It was a real workout getting out to the garage, even worse once out there because the ground is rough. I had to be extremely careful. My father wasn’t up to driving so he rested in the back seat while my step mother did the driving. It was darkness, heavy clouds and rain the whole way. We finally got there still a half hour early. The doc was very pleased with the excellent healing on the knee and said that it’s ready to have a shaper applied to it and in fact was surprised that the doctor in charge of that hadn’t contacted me about it. A prescription had been issued to them but they have no record of it. So now everybody is running around trying to find this prescription but nobody knows where it is. They said they’d call me when they find out but so far there’s been no word. Things went well on the way back home. However in the garage area I hit a patch of ground that had a hole big enough for one of the walkers legs to slide off into and I went halfway to my knees cussing a blue streak all the way. I did manage to keep from falling but just barely. The rest of the trip to the house was made without incident. By that time I was worn out. If you think two hundred feet with a walker and one leg to stand on is easy you need to try it sometime. Great upper body workout! Get the coordination right and you can actually outrun someone who
Howdy!
Karl: … Have you thought of getting a haircut? [:-,]
Todd … A bottle of what? [?]
Jeff … I like the scene you posted of the ware house or freight house.
Galaxy … It’s been a while since I’ve been to New England. Maine is nice.
Well … The government is closed, but at least the DIner is open! I’ll chow down on a sweet roll with coffee… Thanks.
Morning all!
Just a coffee please…
Well, it’s my Sons Birthday today. He turns the big 0-5…yep five years young today. My how time flies. He’s a chip off the old block in that he loves trains. He has been asking for “Whittle Wood” trains for the last few months so my wife and I bought him a truckload of them over the span of that time! He will be opening up a CP trainset (locomotive and five pieces of rolling stock), CN trainset (locomotive and five pieces of rolling stock), Soo Line boxcars (2), Government of Canada grain hoppers (2), as well as some Thomas the Tank pieces and track. If you haven’t seen the Whittle Wood wooden trains before and have kids or grand kids that like trains, check them out! Hand made right here in the USA and they look great, compatable with Thomas and Brio but they are perfect for older kids or those who collect wooden trains.
Well, I plan on working on his N scale layout this afternoon before the festivities kick off. Track plan is transcribed onto the 4X8 sheet of extruded foam…I need to figure out the reverse loop section when the time comes (working with DC again after operating DCC for so long)…ready to start laying the cork roadbed either today or within the next couple of days. It’s been fun working with N scale (I am an HO guy) and watching him get excited as his new layout comes together.
Have a great day all!
Don.
Got word a little while ago that the missing prescription was found late yesterday and faxed to the clinic in DeRidder. I called them and they have it. An appointment has been set for 9am Thursday.
Morning All,
Currently it is 48 with an expected high of 72 under mostly sunny skies.
Today will be a long busy day. I have an eye doc appointment this morning, and will do some shopping at Costco before that appointment. Then w**k and a meeting afterwards. Should be real tired tonight.
Chris, I forgot to mention nice work on that converted round house, looks great.
Prayers to all in need, especially Tom with his back, and Jeff.

I bought another BB gun last night, I sort of collect them, this makes 14. This one is BB only no pellets, 600 feet per second and many times they shoot less than advertised
but this was confirmed at over 600 on some shots on a video where they have the thing that test velocity. Semi auto with a 30 round clip and 12 Gram Co2 powerlet, 60 shots per powerlet.
I have been wanting this one and airgundepot has a promotion right now with a code for 12% off and I figure I will never get it cheaper. No Calif. Tax what a relief!
I like to shoot tin cans and with the BB or pellet whacking the tin can the effect is about the same as a real gun 22.
AmanaMedic you were the last post on Sept. just to let you know I read it. Another month and I keep getting older.
Hello all!
hey Flo, may I have a cup of Jo Please and thank you!?
Happy to see familiar faces!
How has everyone been?
Just got finished my physical exams for my engineer recertification. Passed, thankfully. But now concerned with wether my job will work. since the government shutdown and 85% of our daily ridership is comprised of government workers…
Jeff - hope your shoulder heals up, and glad they found your prescription.
ill be at the RC for a while. Working on a new track plan. The wife and I bought a house last month, our first. SO thankful to be finished with THAT process.
please pm me with any prayer requests you may have, as I would love to help in whatever way I can!
prayers and blessings to you my friends!
Afternoon folks… Downeast, huh?
Well then Chloe, I’ll have a bowl of the New England Clam Chowder, a Maine Lobster Roll, and a Dr. Pepper for lunch.
I returned the sleep monstrosity this morning and then made a bank run to deposit a check for the MLK Committee. Got home and went right back out to do some grocery shopping. Didn’t need a whole lot but bought some stuff i didn’t need to get a 20¢ off on the next tank of dinosaur dung to fill the other tank on the PiP. That will be later this week since I am burning some gunk to go to my sister’s house every day. [:-^] I have a lot of things to get done and print out for the NMRA Division Meet this coming Saturday.
Nice time of year to be Downeast, BTW. Fall foliage is already in full color they say! Will be another couple weeks away for us here in the Finger Lakes.
Later!

Is this a train room with other rooms attached, a train room with a house on top, a train room on top of a house, or a train room separate from the house?
howdy all,
been a while, things have been busy for me with work and other stuff.
OK, I’m back!
Flo, whats on the blue plate lunch special, I’m starving![dinner] Liver & Onions! Oh Boy, I’ll take it! [dinner]
As I alluded to earlier, we’ve had a bit of a tractor swap here. 1st off, I sold my 1955 JD 40 on ebay last week, the picked it up Saturday. Yesterday , started off to be a HER day.[;)]
5:30 a.m. Her wakes up with headache (migraine) Takes Imetrax, turn off alarm, goes back to sleep.[+o(]
7:30, I wake up because of a cat on my chest, HER moans something about HER calling out of work and for me to be quiet. I go downstairs out of the way to check email, ebay and such (Quiet time stuff, no Dremels)
10:30 HER wakes up, migraine gone, want me to take HER shopping.[:X]
12:00 Showers done, hair fixed, we leave the house. Several stops, I bide my time patiently in stores, plotting my revenge.[:-^]
2:45 Last stop, a local tractor dealership. After a 30 minute Q&A session with the salesman, the final test. “Honey” I says " Better have a seat on this tractor here, make sure you feel comfortable on it!" [*-)]
3:30 p.m. HER suddenly realizes as HER breaks out the checkbook that Her can cut the grass all by HERself now![:-^][8D][swg]
Starting with this weekend, as it will be delivered Wednesday!
So what if I didn’t get all the projects done yesterday that I wanted too. [(-D] Sometimes it pays to be nice to HER!!!
HER new toy, JD X300 w/48 inch deck
Anybody wanna buy a Cub Crapette??
And as promised, Project pic
Wow … The Diner is packed. … Great to see everybody!
Don … Happy B’day to the 5 year old engineer!
Sam … Thanks for stopping in. I hope you will continue visiting. Congratulations on the house. Glad the physical exam was okay. … Engineers whistle while they work!
Moe/Larry/Curly … Great to see you. What’s up in your neck of the woods?
Karl … That is quite a paint scheme on the switcher! Should have good viability for drivers at grade crossings.
I’ll have another coffee, please.
Be Happy!
Glad to be back, and will be visiting more regularly from here on!
thanks of or the congrats on the house! It is a train room with other rooms attached. Negotiations were successful in procuring the space for the purpose of running trains on my off days!
the house is located in a small development outside of Fredericksburg. Just a few miles from my sign up location!
(edit) it is a 5 bedroom, 3 bath home. Perfect for growing into, whether it means the train room expands like the blob or we wind up starting a family, only He knows… But I am very thankful to have a place that I can call my own.
Chloe, may I have an outer cup of coffee with a slice of pie to escort it to my tummy? Thank you!
Good evening. A bit later than usual today. We’ve actually been busy at work, and I’ve had little time to slack off.
Galaxy, glad to see that you are seeing the great state of Maine. Portland is a fine walking city, and well stocked with excellent restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating. We discover a new treasure every time. I’m not much of a Freeport fan, myself. LL Bean is interesting, but everything else is just one women’s clothing or shoe store after another.
Buy your tickets ahead of time for the Downeaster. There is a significant senior discount, but you can’t get it on the train, so plan ahead. You can do it online.
