ELLIOT's Trackside Diner VI: The Full Meal Deal!

Morning all

Quite a new look !

Guess i go sit in the back and see who comes in !

[8D]

G’Morning, Zoe - I’ll have a cup of coffee and one of those chocolate donuts, please. Thanks!

PC, I’m pretty sure Fergie meant Phil from Florida (aka Flip), the one I mentioned earlier. You don’t get into nearly the trouble that Flip did…[oops]

Good to see you in, Ken - yeah, sometimes we all need some time off from the forum to work on the layout, don’t we?

Fergie, since Rob and Ryan have spent a lot of time ‘supervising’ contractors at their places, maybe they could offer you some tips on the Diner w**k/remodeling - but we’ll have someone else handle any soldering duties for you. [:-^]

DerJohn, if that coin’s the real deal, you probably could cover this page for PC, too! (But only if you wanted to - I’m sure PC wouldn’t mind). [;)]

I’ll be in the window booth for a while. Prayers for a great weekend of MRR’ing for you all.

Blessings,

Jim in (cool but sunny) Cape Girardeau

A large JR Regular please Zoe, and a Tim’s Wheat and Carrot muffin heated with butter. Thanks !Ken: Welcome Back!Sawyer: Keep meaning to say congratulations. I missed the part when you made it to the finals, and guess that the “No practice” announcement means you won!by:

…I’ve used old power packs of the “Train Set” type when they no longer run trains. The AC outputs do lights just fine. You can pick these up for practically free at train shows. I also have a spare old type computer power source such as Jeff recommends (thanks Jeff) but it lacks a cord, and I’m waiting to find one of those without having to inherit a whole dead computer to do so! Hope the re-tread job works out well for you, and who knows who you may meet that will lead to better opportunities.

Hello …

The Forum changed quite a bit. I could not post until I changed my email address. I’ve had troubles with my old excite email address. My yahoo address works fine so iIchange the link to it.

It would not let me post until I did that.

Did sawyer win the big game? Looks like he did, but he was banged up a bit if I understand some replies to him.

Good Idea, Jeff, regarding Christmas tree lights. I have some tiny Chirstmas tree light strings I got at post-Christmas sales that are 3 volt LED’s.

We returned from Nashville. I am glad to say the doctor appointments went very well. He changed the dosage on one of my meds, and I’ll be fine again.

On the way home, regular gasoline was $2.69/gallon at Flying J at the Fort Campbell / Hopkinsville exit of I-24.

Happy Model railroading.

Good Morning All…Its sunny and 51 here…Looks like fall is here…I’ll have coffee and a sweet roll please…Thank You…I am working on a scape box U-boat this morning…I was bidding on a IC LL GP 18 but somebody thought it was worth much more moey than I did…I don’t know what anyone else thinks but I can’t see prices coming down on Ebay but I am seeing alot of stuff come thru with no bid at all…

Jeff …Thanks for tip on Christmas lites…Heck one string will more than do my whole layout…Don’t know about the rest of you but I have trash caned a bunch of strings over the years!!

Ypo all have a good one…Jerry

Der, I have 6 spare computer power cords here, how many do you need?Fergi, I built her a HO-Scale creamery (from scratch) last year. Not really sure what to do for tomorrow. So far on Operation Autumn Retrieve we have pulled 44 buoys out of the water for winter and only 1,207 to go I think we are making great progress.Night before last I was hit in the forehead with a bat! Walked out of my garage after dark and BAM! The bat was only about the size of a baseball but it knocked me on my can. Last night after dark I was able to get it to fly out of the garage.Lee

Mmmmm Some really good kits out there. If you go onto the IHC Website they have a lot of inexpensive stuff that can be doctored and done wonders with. If you have lots of Mula then Bars Mills makes some really excellent kits that take time but are real gems once finished! I have a few of the Bars-Mills kits but they are all the cheap ones as I won’t spend several hundred on a kit when I haven’t even finished track work. I won’t spen that kind a money on a kit unless I win the Loto. CFO has suspended all Brass aquistions until further notice… (I spent too much in Toronto[:-^])

Buoys… I vaguely remember such animals from my past as they have become endangered due to Bureaucratic mismanagement … I won’t go there!

Qu

Lee, as many here could tell you, keeping the CFO happy is very good for the LHS runs. [:)]

Hmmm, sounds like Lisa grounded Fergie from brass… At least she didn’t nix the Proto 2000’s or the BLI’s, eh, Fergie? [;)] And I’m sure noooo one else in the Diner has been grounded from their LHS or such. Right, Diners? [oops]

I know…I’m just trying to stir up trouble! [:D]

Actually garry, we lost, 20-6. Now we play for third in the county. We might be playing the team we creamed 50-12 earlier in the season. And i told ya’ll about my cramps in the previous diner, but here’s the story again:

The other team is on their 20 when my right calf goes up in a cramp, and i come out foir one play (I wasn’t supposed to). I got that cramp about half-way worked out on the sideline, but was still in imense pain when I went back in. Well, it was a long drive to our 40, when my left calf just completly locked up. I couldn’t oput any weight on it, and if you felt it, you could feel the muscle deformed. So I had to hop on my right foot all the way from the far hash mark (the little lines every yard between the center and sidelines of the field) to our sideline. Not fun. And my muscles are still sore from those cramps. I’m not sure how many tackles I got, but I’m guessing between 3 and 6. I also almost returned a fumble on a PAT for a safty, but got tackled at the last minute before I would have gotten my feet. What sucks is we apparently only needed to score two more points and we would have been in the championship. And guess how much a safty is? 2 POINTS!!! >:( oh well, can’t change the past. I’m just glad that we got both thursday and friday off of practice (my calfs wouldn’t have survived a practice thursday anyways). But then we play on thursday next week, not wednesday.

Afternoon gang: Well things seem to be working better. I’m on Yahoo internet exployer. I’ll have to see what happens when I get to the right side of the page. Yep it is going on to who knows where. I wounder just how far it will go. Alot farther then this. Ok I’ll hit the return and get back to the left margin. If I keep on going here I’ll be in Pokipsee in no time.

This will be interesting to see how it looks after I post. In the past it posted normally.

The kids are taking Mary Ann and I out for dinner tonight. It’s our 39 wedding annerversary. I can hardly believe the we have been married 39 years. Of course since we have kids 37 and 36 years old I guess it’s a good thing. It looks like I’m on my way to pokipsee again.

Please tell me someone else is having this problem.

I guess I’ll head out and get cleaned up for tonight.

See you all later.

By the way I think it was Flip that was swinging from the chandeleir and he got whooped when he found out about how to tell the twins apart. Ofr course I could be wrong but that’s what remember seeing from under the table.

Howdy crew –

I’m just killing some time at the office this Friday afternoon, waiting for a callback, otherwise I’d be long gone. Nothing much happening here weatherwise in the Mid Atlantic region – and that’s a good thing of course. (Except I won’t have any excuses to avoid the outdoor Honey Dues, LOL)

derJohn and CapeJim – thanks for the welcome back, guys!

Paul, congrats to you and Maryanne on your 39th. Quite an accomplishment in this era of drive-thru divorces!

Fergie, remember how you and TEFFY used to tease me about my reluctance to jump into DCC? Well, those days are over: I’ve now got my Digitrax Super Chief and LocoNet fully installed on the layout, and decoders in 21 of my 50 locos. Yeeee-Haw![:P] Of course now I’m being pressured by Fugate & Company to buy a dedicated trainroom ‘puter with a PR3 adaptor, and install DecoderPro on it. But first I’ve gotta buy a dozen signals…and with a daughter in college, my train budget has shrunk quite a bit!

Later, have a good’n…!

Ok but the radiation treatments take all your strength so i’m still weak as a kitten

they say it just takes time to rebuild your stamina

Ken: Nice to see that you made the leap to Digitrax as well. I hooked my Digitrax Zephyr up on the 6th and it’s been a fascinating two weeks so far.

Evening all

Just to clarify ,it was Flip and I said **Phil,**but what a party it was!!! [:P]

Ken Good to see you on this side of the street,if you know what I mean? [:)]

Paul I use word to compose my post and then copy and paste to the forum and that way you can control the length as well as go back and forth in the forum and not lose your post. One of **Ed’**s tricks. [tup]

Garry Good to see that everything went well. [tup][yeah]

That’s about it

Best to all on sick call and those recovering [angel][angel][angel]

Talk to you later

Duke

P.S. Hey they fixed the thing of not going back to the first page when you post.

Hey guys. I love Diners, you here all the great stroes from the ORF patrons. And yet, the staff never ages a day. Some Tuna Helper please.

Ferg: No issues, I half suspected that the Diner would be cut short with the move anyway. But I was of the impression hat we’d need to restart old threads.

Also, Themod squad took away our DeLorean. The Archive only goes to the last Diner. The Coffeshop and 1-4 don;t show up for me. [sigh] No more timetravelling to actually read what happened.

Thar’ a train show this weekend at the Farigrounds. Me thinks I’ll be broker than usual.

Fergi, the bat didn’t break the skin, but our relative speed was about 60 kts and I wasn’t prepared for it. I did clean my head with antibacterial hand wash and let the Doc at sick call look at it the next morning.

Paul, Congratulations on your 39th.

Well Dorothy surprised the heck out of me tonight she gave me my sweetest day, birthday, and Christmas present tonight: 4 barstools (wrought Iron with padded seat with back and they swivel). She bought them for me and my friends to use in the train room.

Derr, I shot you a message.

Mitch, 26OCT08 Medina Fairgrounds Train show, I guess I’m going. The ballast guy is going to be there so I need to pick up 15 pounds of ballast.

Have a good evening all…

Lee

Evening gang!

I’m glad I was able to follow the leftover cookie crumbs someone left for me to get to here!

Paul and MaryAnn - Happy Anniversary!

Well gang, just a quick stop in. Tomorrow is more unpacking and yard work.

Take care!

Evening, Chloe - how about a cup of coffee

and (at risk of starting a stampede in the DIner) a slice of apple pie a la mode?

Thanks, and you’d better make sure the chef has another couple of pies in the oven for once PC hears the word ‘PIE’…[:-^]

Yep, Duke, they have - and I discovered a work-around for the centering alignment that isn’t in the toolbar (yet). They do have the Indent button. If you’re on a photo’s [ IMG]… line, you click on the Indent button (and you can do that more than one time), you get the photo indented (I think - I’m trying it in this post). Looks like it only indents that one line you’re on, so you don’t have to fool around with ‘un-indenting’ for the lines after that.

Paul, [bow][bow][bow] for your and Mary Ann’s anniversary - how’d she put up with you that long? [;)][:-^] (Just kidding) Congratulations, indeed!

Now, to eat my dessert before PC and our other pie-eaters arrive…

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Actually, you may be able to, if you have any links for an older Coffee Shop or Diner. Enter them on this site. Try it and see. Useful often for webpages that aren’t there, or have changed since a few months ago.

Alas, it only goes as deep as the MR General Discussion forum list page.[sigh] Maybe they’ll have it in the Kalmbach store on CDROM in a couple of months?
