I like this place and so does my bulldog, Hannah.

She’s on dry food but I’ll have a steak, eggs and some hashbrowns please. I know it’s futile to ask for grits… [:D]

JaRRell

I like that order you’ve put in there JaRRell, so much so, i’ll have the same! with a strawberry shake on the side, thanks.

Can someone cut up some steak for my dog please.

Not so much to tell, really. I grew up in Washington (GN country), spent a bit of time around Portland’s Union Station, and I’m old enough to remember all the SP&S Pullman-green heavyweights in “reserve” just south of the Broadway Bridge.

My father was a serious model railroader, and he got me hooked on it before I was old enough to peer over the top of a layout table. I was a model railroader until I was married. He was in the Marines; so, we moved around quite a lot; and what with that, two children, and various careers, there wasn’t much time for hobbies. My son and I did piddle around with N-scale, but railroading didn’t take with him and I couldn’t warm up to those itty bitty little trains (I’m an HO-Scale gal).

About three years ago, I finally settled in Nebraska, bought a house and spent some serious time remodeling (it’s good to be handy). With that done, and working from home, I found I had enough time on my hands for a hobby. Naturally, I started thinking about railroad layouts again, and here I am. Regrettably, management decided to promote me and I can’t work from home; so, I’m an apartment-dweller probably until I retire in about ten years. My house is about a hundred miles distant. I don’t like it, but it’s still close enough to go there on weekends.

Layout-wise, I’m very much in the planning phase - trying to overcome the challenge of constructing my layout modularly. I’m prototyping 1955 Great Northern passenger/freight operations in a fictionalized Rocky Mountain setting.

Besides model railroading, I write short stories, poems, and novels. The bulk of my work appears under the pen name “Janet P. Hildreth” in a variety of U.S. and European literary magazines (alas, I may occasionally end

Well at least the fire is nice and cozy . Makes a great place to sit and write or read . My brother lives outside tacomma the rest of us are on the east coast.

Hey guys, What happened to the guy who created the orginal coffe shop havnt seen him in a while (i forget his name but wasnt he the guy who had the most posts?) Ill have a popu platter please. How many people ordered Chinese today? Cliff- congrats on making it to GMRR 06. Not really into that area of the countrys trains but you did a great job on it.

Welcome to the new CS, LYNDA, hope ya enjoy all your visit here. Right good bunch round here. Sounds like you have enough to keep you busy even without a layout right now.

inch

Good evening Lynda and welcome. Draw up a chair by the fire and get comfortable. Boy you are sure a busy bee, Sure seems like you could use a clone… I’m surprised Lisa hasn’t dropped in yet. Must be partying.

Happy New Year to you. Don’t be a stranger, drop in anytime. Great group of folks in here.

Flip

Waiting for midnight does wonders for the layout. Since there is nothing else to do, why not work on it? I cast some rocks and placed them on the layout with Sculptamold in the last hour or so and added a gravel drive for a store plus a little grass. Now I think I’m gonna go add some more rocks and see what else I can do!

Evening all…Wow!! I like the new place I’ll have a cup of egg nog on Inch… thank you …I’m starting to feel a little better so I think I’ll just slip over in the corner booth and enjoy the celebration…Happy New Year!!!Jerry

Good New Year’s Eve everyone. I started this some pages back in the Coffee Shop, as I’ve been away. So I’ve answered a bunch of stuff from there.

Nelson: Care to say something about yourself; mrr interests (steam we guess, but what?) part of the world and so on…

Hoople:

…I know just what you mean, and have been able in the last 3 or 4 days to do something about it despite being away, for an overnight, and having grandkids to visit here. I want to do a little more before posting pics, but am pleased both with the results so far, and at having got back “the urge”, so to speak…Good luck with your evil scheme… [swg]

Hey gang, Flip’s been practicing

DaveInTheHat: Care to tell us a bit more?

Yo! Lupo: Really great to see you join us again! All the best for 2007 to you too!

Fergie: See you over in the new TD, and A Happy New Year!

OK, I’m now in the Diner…quite the place!.. and a great crowd with new faces everywhere!

Major [#welcome] all round, and especially to you, Lynda. I hope you

[#welcome]Cliff and Lynda: Please have one on me. The ladies will take your order.

The place just opened and already there are 3 pages. At this rate David Voss will be asking us to start again in no time.

First the bad news, I have to work tomorrow. Now the good news, 33 days to RETIREMENT. I’m not looking forward to it, much!

Speaking of working tomorrow, I’d better get to bed. Mary Anns truck is having problems, so I am going to start it up before I leave and let it run for a few minutes. For some reason it is getting air in the fuel system. If it will start when I get home we’ll take it over to the Ford house.

So our wishes for everyone to have a happy and prosperous new year.

WOW, this place has gotten crowded since I dropped in earlier!!! I don’t think I will make the midnight drop of the ball on the track signal stand…just too tired.

Hey LYNDA!!! Welcome to the Trackside Diner ( formerly the Coffee Shop for three years ) [#welcome] I know what you are going through with travelling to work, most of my working career was spent at hours drive away from home, and several years it was 1.5 hours. Quite a change living in Nebraska compared to Washington, to you miss the Northwest? Beautiful country, but a lot of rain. I have been to Seattle, but I would have liked to visit longer.

DER JOHN: You still up??? I thought you would have hit the sack by now??
