Very attractive locomotives with a good prime mover. It would be good to soon see some action shots from Peru.
Where in Peru does Southern Peru Copper operate? If it’s up in the Andes Mountains and altiplano, then expect some sounds we seldom, if ever, get to hear in North America. I recall from the 1980s the sounds of Alco and EMD diesels running at 12,000 ft. on the line between Puno and Juliaca, straining to suck in that rarified air.
Did this locomotive start out as a GP40 or some other EMD geep?
I had this in my train two weeks ago going to kc city. Also have two pics of num 70.
