What is an H-15? I know the Seaboard Coast Line had one but was it a rebuilt or something?

SCL actually had eight of them. They were SD35’s and SDP35’S (four each) that were re-engined or de-rated to 1500 HP and had various electrical modifications permitting them to serve as heavy switchers and hump pushers.

i dont know the details but that engine in the picture has been re-powered…as you can see the 4 exhaust stacks as opposed to the single turbo stack…unless…were SD-35’s turbo’ed???

i know the GP-35 was turbo’ed so i am assuming the SD was too

Thanks for the info. I was wondering because to me it just looked like a SD35 with a four stack manifold.
