I’m trying to find prototype F-M switchers and road switchers that were re-engined by or with EMD prime movers. There must have been some - who had them?
Thanks!

There is a repower section in my 1973 DSG2. It gave six FM hood units that were repowered with EMD powerplants. In 1958 EMD repowered three H15-44s: KCS #41, CRI&P #400-401. In 1960 the Monon repowered H15-44s #45-46 and followed by repowering its H10-44 #18 the following year. That’s all that is listed in that book, there may be others.
I found my old Second Diesel Spotter’s Guide, which had a section on repowerings. I found mention of the following:
KCS 41 (45) H-15-44
Monon 18 H-10-44
Monon 45-46 H-15-44
RI 400-401 H-15-44
There was even an overhead pic of RI 400 showing the EMD-type stacks - about the only outward evidence of the repowering that I can see.
Ah - you posted while I was typing. Thanks for the info!
One other factory re-powering job to keep in mind: WAB Train Masters 592-599 were re-powered at Schenectady with 251 engines.
EMD also repowered 8 FM “Erie Built” carbody locomotives ( 5 A-units, and 3 B-units) for KCS.
New York Central had some EMD repowered C-liners. I do not know if they had any of the other FMs repowered.
A number of the EMD repower jobs are here: http://community-2.webtv.net/ajkristopans/REPOWEREDLOCOMOTIVES/ A J Kristopans maintains the website. The Monon FM units are not on the list as they were repowered in the Monon Shops instead of by EMD.
Thank you all!
