i have heard that EMD`s european class 66 engines are built in the plant at London, Ontario. I´m pretty sure that they go to europe by ship (how else ;-)), my question is, from which harbour are they shipped out? How do they go to the harbour? By there own rails or by truck? Are there any images of some engines on its way from London to the harbour?
They would move by rail, most likely to Montreal or Halifax.
I seem to remember some locomotives being flown to Ireland a year or two ago.

Most of them have left via the Canadian Port of Halifax, NS. The very first Class 66 built 66001 was shipped via the Port of Albany, NY. Two production batches were shipped via the Port of Norfolk, VA. These two batches were shipped via Norfolk because it was easier to find a heavyhaul ship looking for a backhaul to Europe from there. These trips happened during the peak production rate when GM shipped two batches in less than one month.
As beaulieu says, the vast magority of the UK and European class 66’s have left and still are leaving via Halifax. The all five of the Foster Yeoman Class 59’s were built at La Grange (59001-4 - 1985, 59005 - 1989). I also believe that Irish Railways and Northern Ireland Railways joint Class 201 loco’s built in the mid 90’s were shipped out this way except for #201 which was flown out in a huge Russian transport.
Here is a link to a photograph of a batch of EWS’ JT42CWRs (Class66) in transit from London, Ontario to Halifax, NS. It isn’t the best but it is all I can find for right now. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=48251
A lot of Class 66’s have been landed at Newport, S. Wales. I think some of the ones supplied to operators in main land Europe may have been landed at Newport and sent on by rail thru the Chunnel.
I have seen some locomotives on heavy duty flats in CP’s Quebec Street Yard in London before. I don’t know where they go from there but from where they were staged the one time I saw them, they seemed to be heading toward Toronto. My guess is they would end up at Montreal Port or futhur east.
Normally if they are standard gauge they will move on their own wheels. EMD is in the process of shipping 27 SD70Ms to Brazil that are built for 5’ 3" gauge and these are moving on HD Flatcars.
All the British Class 66s were landed at Newport except the first one, which landed at Immingham.
