EMD SW1001s in the UK

I saw a couple of UK operator Freightliner, part of the American Genesee and Wyoming corporation, Locos pass by on the East Coast Mainline today, heading south away from the Scottish border.

They were Class 90 Electrics, acquired from rival operator DB Cargo UK, part of the German Deutsche Bahn operation - who took over from EWS (English, Welsh, Scottish) formerly Wisconsin Central owned.

I’ve only ever seen one G&W loco, EMD Cl.59/66 once before up here.
The Class 59/66s are one of the most successful Locos in the UK and Europe and they were a result of the success of two SW1001s, imported into the UK.

Here’s some info. from Flickr and also footage from YouTube.
