I’m doing a rebuild based on the EMD MP15 series and I’m wondering if i should throw an EMD Sparitan cab or keep the butt head cab?
Go look at the S.580 cab specifications and determine your anti collision reinforcement and CEM relative to that.
The intended use of the unit is a factor. You may want to retain a highly-glazed, elevated end cab for switching performance, but reinforce it if road or transfer operation is desired (see also the LIRR operation for passenger use).
