Has the B&P leased some EMLX 90MACs? Witness this photo:

I heard 6 are being leased due to the increased coal traffic on the B&P…I wish we could see them in the Orange!

Geez, talk about BIG power for a regional line! [:D] Should be interesting to see how they last with them. They didn’t last very long on the KCS.

It will be interesting how long they last…The have some goofy power…the SD90s, SD45s, SD40Ts, GP40’s and those GP9s…

Could the EMLX units be downrated from 6000hp to 4300hp? None of the railroads that have had them like them - UP, KCS, W&LE, and yet-to-be-seen results from B&P. CP doesn’t like their 4 6000hp units, however UP and CP love their 4300hp units. Seems that these locos could find a home if they just tuned them back a bit. CSX did so with their AC6000CW’s, so why can’t EMD with these units?

CSX’s AC6000’s were only derated for a short time so GE could work out some software bugs. The HDL engine in CSX locomotives is now rated at 6250 HP.

The EMD units have more issues other than their HP rating.

These are the 6000 hp units UP had and sent back because the were troublesome in some way ,I cant remeber. But these are,or were 6000hp when UP sent them back…The UP 8100 series loco are 4300HP…

Anyone know how these units are doing for the B&P? Are they still around and running?

see one or two of the SD90mac paired with SD45’S to as to make a three unit set going thru

Johnsonburg or Ridgway, running RIJB AND JBSA between butler and buffalo

can always tell when the “H” engined units are there, sounds different from SD45’S

used to hearing
