Employee passes for railroad operated commuter trains.

General speaking, when railroads operated their own commuter trains, did employees receive passes to travel, say from Aurora, IL to Chicago, IL to work in the CBQ general office?

B&O operated commuter service between Baltimore, Brunswick and Washington DC as well as between Pittsburgh and McKeesport.

The employee passes I have seen did not restrict the passes use on those trains - they only restricted use on The Capitol Limited, The National Limited and The Royal Blue.

The father of a grade school classmate worked for Illinois Central. He took the South Shore to 115th Street and used his company pass on the IC north to Central Station. There was a restriction on the pass that the passholder could not occupy a seat to the exclusion of a paying passenger.
