The westbound loaded grain trains use the FRC and the empty ones use the Donner pass. This is the 6880 returning cars east bound at Newcastle today in the fog.
DPU 6001 on the rear of the grain train.
Later on with a little less fog, the 2001 trailed by westbound at Rocklin.
Because the #$@% “Insert/edit image” function - the one with the tree icon - always freezes up and never works to do that;
There are no clear instructions on how to do that or trouble-shoot it anyplace on the website that I can find; and,
I’m too darn lazy, distracted, or maybe just plain embarassed to post, Private Message, or e-mail somebody who knows how for a quick lesson tutorial on how to do it. Which I’m going to fix as soon as I get done here.
In the meantime, the best I can do is post/insert the links (only) to a couple albums that I have on Google’s Picasa website. There are others, such as Flickr, which may be better - I just don’t know enough yet.
Now back to the photos themselves - thanks for sharing and posting them, too.
Things-I-see Dept.:
In the 1st/ top one - that looks like a spring frog in the mainline turnout just ahead of the locomotive - notice all the appendages sticking out to the right.
Also, that’s a nasty-looking warp / rapid change in the cross-level - can’t really tell or say if it is actually ‘super-elevated’ or ‘banked’ - in the outer/ ‘high’ rail of the curve in the spur, closest to the locomotive, from about opposite the lead loco’s plow pilot, to where the gray insulated joint is, and then to the stone crossing.
In the 2nd/ middle one - that’s quite a collection of flashing lights on that crossbuck on the left - looks like at least 3, maybe 4 pair, and/ or a couple of singles ?
In the 3rd/ bottom one - what’s that blue stuff under and around the sides of the concrete culvert ?
Thanks again. There’s a lot of atmosphere in the 1st one, and I like the signal bridge in the 2nd, too. Also the lower level siding in the 3rd.
Thanks for looking and the comments. The 1st picture shows a spur for the old building on the right that is out of the picture. It was a wood products factory back in the 1990’s or so. The spur now gets a set out if problems happens and they need it.
The flashing lights at the crossing is to warn from two directions that lead to the crossing on both sides. I try to get pictures that show them when they are lighted for effect.
The 3rd picture shows the uphill main line believe it or not. It is the new Track # 2 out of Rocklin.
I am not sure why it looks like secondary track, but it is the main line east to Donner.
I appreciate comments as many of the posted pictures lately just get viewed. All of us do this to share our pictures good or bad. The weather has been very poor for the last month and I have avoided taking pictures except for the 2001 coming into town yesterda
It is easy to post pictures, but you have to use an address from a web site like Photobucket. It is free to join and you simply upload your photo’s to the photobucket. When you want to use a photo, you go to photobucket and view the picture and below it will be an Image address. You copy that address and post it into the forum and you have a picture.
It is all free and only takes two minutes to join. You need to cut down the size of the photo or it takes more time to upload them. I use a 19Mp camera most of the time so I cut my file sizes down to about 1mp or so and they still look great overall.
This is my Roseville sub Photobucket that is being uploaded from time to time.
