Working on a Bachmann H16-44 and lost one of the Motor Brush spring retainers. Where would be the best place to find replacements?

Thanks

Thanks, Frank. Contacted them already and they say they don’t carry that part.

If you mean the brass piece that clips onto the motor brush housing and makes contact with the frame, only Bachmann will have (may have) a replacement. You may wind up having to replace the entire motor, or purchase a used model on eBay to use as a parts source.

All Bachmann motors should be the same, so you don’t necessarily have to have one from a H16-44.

Maybe ebay.

Below is all they have for the motor. They do not sell the tiny parts.

Hi rowedo:

Welcome to the forum!

I did a DCC conversion on a Bachmann H 16-44 a year or so ago and I couldn’t get it to run as smoothly as I had hoped. A suggestion was made on the forum that the original Bachmann motor was at least part of the problem because of the rather primitive design (3 poles IIRC).

Perhaps this is an opportunity to upgrade the motor. Granted it will cost more for a better motor but it might be worth the investment if performance improves, especially at low speed. NWSL (North West Short Line) has a variety of motors and drive shaft kits available, and they can advise you on what would work. They are very helpful and nice to work with.

Forget getting just one little part. Buy the motor from eBay or buy a superior replacement motor from NWSL.

Thanks for the input. Found the part on ebay. I’m back in business.
