Engineer won't fit in engine.

Okay, I give up. Bachmann certain has made a puzzle in the installation of the engineer figure for their 2-6-0 engine. How do you put that little guy in the cab? His butt seems to be too big.

Which 2-6-0 engine, Buckeye? The little Industrial or the Spectrum Mogul? If the Indy, the box says it’s 1:20.3 but the cab is actually the same as on the old Columbia 2-4-2, and that’s a SMALL loco modelled in 1:22.5. In other words, the Indy cab is scale only 5ft high, very very small. There’s an article in the current GR mag to make the Indy look the correct size & proprotions.

It is the Spectrum, 4-6-0. My mistake stating that it was a 2-6-0.

How about some Slim Fast for the little guy? Surgery should always be a last resort. Sorry, I couldn’t resist Buckeye.[swg]

Strfictly speaking, Buckeye, Bachmnann hasn’t mad a Spectrum 4-6-0. The Anniversary release 10-wheeler is close in details but is modelled to the scale of 1:22.5, ie 10% smaller than the 1:20.3 stuff.
The Bachmann engineer is actually a lousy figure, distorted and wrong scale, check the ads in GR mag and buy a good figure instead. Or come on over tho http://www.mylargescale.com and check out the figure building class that is being conducted, teaches you how to make your own figures.

one word: dremel

If you want to have fun, take the Bachmann engineer, seat him on a bench and then put the Aristocraft engineer on his lap. Awww, look at that, Father Son discusion time…

Seriously, the B’mann figures are not to any scale I know, maybe they are 1/20 if they are they are all radioactive or something. I am planning on using Preisler figures and some of the other aftermarket figures on my layout. The Bachmann’s just look too out of proportion and too toylike for me, especially the Fireman figure, looks like he should be straddling a horse for crying out loud!

Phil is right, the Indy 2-6-0 is based on the old Columbia 2-4-2 which was based on an ex-Hawaiian suger cane loco but I am convinced it was made originally to a scale of 1/24th, not 1/22 or anywhere near 1/20.3. If anyone has one for 1/20, that conversion techinic in this months GR may be the best way to correct the scale snafu.

I am also convined that Bachmann made the 4-6-0 also to a scale of 1/24, not 1/22.5 Thats why nothing fits in it.

That sounds like a pain in the [censored]. Ouch!!! Sorry guys, I can’t help being silly on this one. [swg]

I like the Dremmel solution. [:D] I think I will video tape the surgery that Dr. Buckeye [}:)] will be performing and post it on the forum. [8D] It will be known far and wide as Buckeye’s Bachmann Butt Reduction Surgery. I’ll be famous and rich in model medical circles and give speeches at conventions serving chicken and rice for lunch. I can’t wait.[:D]

I better check with my insurance company to see if I am covered for this type of operation so that the friends of the Bachmann Engineer don’t sue me for malpractice seven or eight years from now. [:(]

See; this is all the more reason why everything should be metric and then this wouldn’t happen, and if it did it would be even more confusing and technical!
