ENGINES IN BACK YARD

IF YOU HAD ROOM IN YOUR BACK YARD, WHAT ENGINE WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE. I HAVE 3 AND WOULD LIKE ONE OF THEM. I DON’T HAVE THE ROOM.
1 THE LATE GREAT GG1
2 E7
3 E8.
IF ANYONE HAVE AND GOOD PICTURES OF THE GG1 PLEASE EMAIL THEM TO ME. richardtrains@comcast.net

My personal preference would be for a BRC TR4 set, both cow and calf with the solid drawbar connection.

My three would be F45, E9 and SD9

Big Boy! Any of them! I keep asking, but no one seems to be forthcoming on getting one to me! Including UP!

Any Alco Century loco

RS 3 a Classic loco

Alco P A

(and a caboose [:D] plus a dome car and other passenger cars [;)] )

BUT if I had to live in it too then the choice would be a DD40X. [:)]

Just look at all the room available. Living Room, half bath, Office/Den, Laundry Room, Dinning Room, Kitchen, and in the OTHER part, 3 Bedrooms and a Full Bath. We can put the hot tube on the back “porch”. [:D] [;)] [:D]

NS SD40-2 #3352, any LMS C40-8W, and a Conrail bay window caboose.

GG-1,
FEF-3 4-8-4
SDP40F or FP45

I’d settle for a Little Joe electric, a GE steeple cab (pantograph or pole) or a GS4 4-8-4 if one of the above is not available

As tempting as it would be to have an S-2 Berk in the back yard, I think I’d prefer to have something that I can run. Still a steamer, to be sure, but a little Forney, or something like that. One of those little industrial Shays would be neat! Need some track, and a couple of cars to haul the neighborhood kids around in. Think Ward Kimball…

I keep trying to convince my wife and numerous in laws that all I want for Christmas is a functioning ALCO PA (yep, I realize that’s an oxymoron, like military intelligence.)

Last Christmas I got one. The only problem is, it’s in HO scale and missing the “diesel” portion of “diesel electric”.

When TRAINS came out with Doyle McCormack’s efforts to restore an NKP ALCO PA I shared this vital information with the Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Reserve Board, namely, my wife. She’s a pretty good sport about stuff in the back yard- like knee deep grass… but she drew the line at railroad equipment. Like ALCO PA’s. Or cabooses. (Is it “cabooses” or “cabeese”?)

I’m not sure how to ask her for a GG1… I think the neighbors might object to me hooking up a 6000 hp electric locomotive to the local grid just to blow the whistle…

Erik

I am selling a GE 60 ton loco and an ALCO s6 both engines will fit most back yards
Randy

I would seriously consider such an offer if I had a railroad, or if they were in need of repair and I had a place to work on them, the latter I hope in the near future.

I’m curious, the 60 tonner has a cummins diesel?

I will buy the S6 for $10.00

I’d like an SP Lima built,cab in the rear, AC9 articulated.[:D] Oh ! I get 3!
#2. GS4 Daylight.
#3. Daylight PA.

I actually have about a half mile of abandoned rail right-of-way running through the family farm up north. A few ties, some rail and I think I could hold a MILW Bi-Polar and box cab, an A-B-A set of E-9’s, maybe a GG1, and if I reinstall the siding, I guess a working Big Boy so I could shuffle stuff around for a change of view.

So let see, I need a heavy hauler for the 14 miles to the nearest active railroad, and signs for the snowmobilers. "WARNING-Crashing into large train locomotives may be hazardous to your health!

Royal Hudson 2860.

I wouldn’t really want to have it in my backyard though, because then it wouldn’t be operational…

I’d rather have it stored so I could run it around the lower mainland at my leisure.

SD-40-2,a Rock Island 5000 series 4-8-4,and what the Hell a C-415 Alco. All Rock Island paint mind you.By the way Randy how much for the 60 ton ?The tourist railroad I help out at has need of a small diesel electric.and for giggles how about the Alco? But my backyard better get bigger or better yet linear to two wyes one at each end with a siding(glad my fiancee isnt reading this)plus a siding and a tower and a… You see where this is going dont you?Dream big it may happen!

N&W J Class 611… I might have to fight a bit for her.

#1 B&O Lady Baltimore!!! English Looks,American Made!!!

If I had 3 GP40s I could find work for them…

I’ll just have to make due with the loco I already have…[sigh]
