engines with sound

Guys, I am looking for invest my good money into an engine or two that is DCC sound. I’m looking at the Broadway Limited AC6000CW and a Tower 55 ES45AC. What does everyone think of these companies and their sound and is it worth my wild. Also, do you know if you can run DCC on DC layouts? Also with the sound, can you run your engine on DCC without the sound?

I witnessed a demo of the BLIAC6000. All I could say about the unit was wow! The sound was very dynamic and clear. Startup, idling, air pop off, compressor kicking in. Very sweet! The reverb of the horn was impressive. The LED headlights are bright.

IMHO, owners will not be dissappointed. Some criticisms have been made about body detailing, but it’s nothing that parts from Details West couldn’t take care of.

If you go to an LHS, ask the owner for if he or she will give you a demo on a test track.

It depends. The QSI® system that BLI, Atlas and P2K use automatically detects DC or DCC and takes care of everything for you. Unless you get a Quatum Engineer from BLI or similar product from Atlas, it is exceedingly difficult to control the sounds.

Ask Tower 55 for information on thier products.

Yes you can turn off the sounds.

Broadway Limited AC6000CW looks like the way to go . but won’t be shipping till Oct. 06 according to thier website . Joe

I’m a big fan of BLI, so would thumbs-up that one.

I have a BLI ac6000, yes they are terrific, I don’t know about your layout, but when they say 22 radius curve believe them. !! I had issues at 28 radius.

i just recieved my tower 55 and all i have to say is WOW!!!

It is way better than the BLI’s ac6000cw, and the details blow the bLI out of the water.
The sound is great too!!!

By the way i got a eS44Dc In the form of the Fantasy ATSF paint

Zak,

If you do get the AC6000, it’s a whopper so you need a minimum radius of 22" to handle the 6-axle trucks.

You can run the QSI decoders on either DCC or DC layouts. Some of the others decoders you’ll need to double-check. F8 is the mute function so you can turn your decoder’s sound on and off.

I would try a Master Series Gold from Atlas.Much better than the BLI.Dont know about the T55.Just a recommendation,Dan
