England’s Bluebell Railway extension nears completion

This is perhaps the best preserved railway in the world! Congratulations to them for the completion of the line to East grin stead and connection to the main line network

As Richard Turle said, this is an exceptional line. Absolutely beautiful and easy to do on a day trip from London. Would recommend it to any railfan who’s in or travelling to the U.K. Hope they get their extension done OK!

This was the first standard gauge steam operated passenger heritage line in the UK, and the world I believe. I have had the pleasure of driving the then 129 (now 140) years old Fenchurch tank engine on the line one memorable winter Saturday. What an experience! Congratulations to such a dedicated and persevering group.

Well done Bluebell really looking forward to the line connecting up to the rest of the line at East Grinstead the wait for this is nearly over

By chance I happened to visit during a 100th anniversary of the opening of the original railway, IIRC there were 15 steam locomotives operating that weekend. Had a very enjoyable conversation with some of the members over a pint at a pub and they were looking forward to the day that the link to BR would be made.
