Enola celebrates 100 year Anniversary of opening of Enola Yards with Train excursions

Enola will have various activities this year marking the 100 year anniversary of Enola Yard. Activities will include model train /railroad memorabilia shows, fireworks, and Train excursions from Harrisburg over the Rockville Bridge and through Enola Yard. Here is a link to information: http://www.eastpennsboro.net/Parks_Recreation/100th/100th.html Sounds like some interesting stuff. I’m up for a trainride! A friend of mine told me about this a few months ago. It sounds neat, I might go if I can.

When I was in town a few weeks ago, I seem to remember seeing something about it posted somewhere. The Trainride and Modeltrain/memorabilia shows are on separate weekends however. I wonder what power they will be using on the Excursions…probably Amtrak P42’s. It would be nice if Bennett Levin brought his E-8’s in for the rides. Since they are running the rides on two days that weekend, a Railfan could ride one day, and chase it the next. I am considering coming in for it… Dave Williams http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nsaltoonajohnstown

Well, I just checked another site, and the Enola area may be crowded that weekend…There will be a model train show at the York Fairgrounds that weekend…not the ‘big one’ though, which is happening around April 1st. This 2nd one will overlap the Enola Train excursions running from April 30th to May 1st. Don’t know how big of a crowd the 2nd York event will draw, Anyone planning on coming in might want to look into Hotel Rooms NOW. Otherwise, will have to make it a one day trip.
