EPA recognizes Oregon short line for green practices

All the East Side (of Lake Washington) NIMBY yuppie whiners up here who want railroads out of their back yards because they are so dirty and polluted should actually take note of the green practices of many shortlines.

Instead of focusing on the negative in someplace other than Oregon, consider the positives in this news story. First, CBR is a recent start-up and has united the coast sea ports with the business center of the Willamette Valley. Second, after the investment in right-of-way improvement and solid railroading practices, this line is also a benefit to the environment by reducing the number of truck loads congesting the two lane highway to the coast. Third, this has also improved the financial and economic environment.

Nothing will satisfy those yuppie ass whiners except to get rid of those “ugly” trains.

Given the price of diesel, improving fuel economy is also a green ($$$$) project.

Didn’t they give the same award to the other ARG line (San Pedro and Southwestern)?
