Eratic speed

I am running a new prodigy express and betwwen 039 and 090 the speed of my loco is unstable(speed up,hesitate spped up hesitate etc. Above or below these settings it runs at a constae speed as it should.I am running only one loco and no acc. It was running fine until yesterday.

Thanks for any help.

This is just a guess, but the lower speeds may allow the engine to wobble in an amplitude in time with minor defects in the rail evenness. That is to say, at the slower speeds the pickups and wheels can conform to the unevenness in level along the individual rails, either at joints or along their lengths. At speed, though, it gets “airborn” a bit more often and that will cause it to pause, even if briefly, but the rapidly spinning flywheel gets it on to where continuity is restored…then another break…and it is repeated.

Again, I am only guessing. The pairs of rails have to be well laid for rapid running…on all layouts.

Note to self: Never read this forum without wearing reading glasses.

I thought the subject was “erotic” speed.

Er, um. It’s spelled ERRATIC.

Well, at least things that won’t maintain a set pace or course are.

There is a difference!!! And some of us are erratic all of the time.
