Eric Brooman's Utah Belt

Once again Eric Brooman’s Utah Belt is in the news. It is shown in the 2013 Great Model Railroads. If anyone can capture realistic rock work, Eric can! What are the chances the magazine could get a video of Eric making his rock formations?

I always look forward to a issue be it MR or GMR that features Eric’s Utah Belt. It is one of my favorite model railroads.

Well I have been enjoying my issue of Great Model Railroads 2013 for a couple of weeks now and there is no Utah Belt or Eric Brooman to be found. Am I missing something or are you referring to something else?

He could be in GMR every year as far as I am concerned but I am not finding it in the 2013 issue.

Is Eric still active? I could be mistaken but I vaguely remember reading a while back that he was dismantling his layout, which was a bit of a shocker.

To All: I made a paper copy of Eric’s logo. When applied to a boxcar and the car is weathered and dullcoated it looks like a decal especially when applying “the 3 ft rule” ( viewed from 3 feet as most layouts are). This is the method I use to do up cars in famous model railroaders paint schemes.

Wow, another Foa-Pa by your’s truly! I am embarrassed! I got my copy of Great Model Railroads 2013 and Great Model Railroads 2006, used from Amazon.com about a day apart. Sorry for the confusion! Eric Brooman’s article is in the 2006 issue of this annual; magazine. Doesn’t change the fact that Eric’s rockwork is some of the best I’ve ever seen.

I want his skills in that field…definitely agree with NP2626 here.

I have done a Google Search for Eric and do find reference to him and his Utah Belt; but, nothing really specific to his scenery methods.

I would like to watch that myself since IMHO he’s one of the tops in that area.

A couple months ago at the Mcor of the NMRA it was still going strong. It was on layout tour!
