[banghead]Back in 2003, Lionel released the 31953 Riding The Rails Adventure Set. I am interested in only finding the engine. What is it’s catalog number?
I want to find at least two of them and have one turned into a 4-6-0 and the other a 4-6-2.
Thank you for any assistance.
ACF, sorry this has taken a little while to post back to you. I have the set. The number on the box for the engine is 6-30869. Hope this helps. Some time ago, I was told that this particular engine containes some technology that was part of the MTH lawsuit and so they are in limited supply. (I was told this after having already purchased the piece, so it was not used as a selling point).
These are very nice looking engines the way they are. I may look for one eventually to change the number on the piece and just have two on my pike.
Good Luck,
Dennis
Dennis,
Thank you for the catalog number. It is a shame that litigation may have been a culprit in making this engine so limited.[tdn]
The lettering will be either ERIE, Susquehanna, or one of each. But I must find them first. TCA and EBAY come to mind.
Again, Thank you.[bow]
No problem. I did a quick search of Lionel, Ebay, and even Google with that number…to no avail. You may want to post a search on Ebay with notification should one come up. I would also check out the OGR Buy/Sell board. They may either have one, or you can post that you are looking for one. I believe the original set went for $299. retail, but I got the set for just over $200. You may also want to check Trainz and some other sites who purchase sets from individuals.
Good Luck,
Dennis
Just for a few yucks, I went on EBAY as well. Came up empty-handed. I will find them somewhere.
Thanks again.[:)]
Hope you check back with this, but I found one:

I have purchased a number of items through ChooChooAuctions, but have not done so with this particular seller. Hope it works out.
