ERR Cruise Commander Problem

Hi GIZ,
Got this kit from ERR and put it into a Lionel #28070 SP Atlantic steam engine to fix a lurch that they are known for. This engine came out in 2000-01. It was one of the first engines with Odyssey. I follwed instructions on this placed everything in and did the engine set along with the code for programming engine. Placed back on track addressed engine turned on lights blew whistle, turned knob just a little and went down the tracks like a rocket. It only goes one speed fast. In both directions. YUZ GIZ have any ideas as whats the matter? Thanks,

Laz, It could be the radio board. If this engine has the 07 version it doesn’t work with the cruise boards. You need the 08 version. I had a problem with an alco with the 07 board when I put a cruise board in. The 08 board fixed the problem then I couldn’t get the body on. The ERR board was a touch wider then the original board. I ended up putting the ERR board in another engine and wired the motors in series in the alco. Get ahold of Jon though. He’s a real big help and a good guy to deal with.

Laz, Call or send an email and ask them to call you. Jon talked me through a problem I had on one of my installs. Not sure if Jon himself is available now that he is also working for Lionel, but I’m sure you can talk to someone knowledgeable.

Thanks GIZ, I will call Monday after school.

Hi GIZ,

Well after getting some info on another forum I left out the 10 pin harness. I checked it all out and soldered the wire to the number 24 pin did a reprogram on it and all is well. Goes super slow and will maintain that speed all day. Just a wonderful product took care of the lurching on that early odyessy problem. Thanks again GIZ,
