Escanaba & Lake Superior lands CN ore car deal

It is best hoped that the E&LS can build some future business from this venture. It would be a shame to see this regional go
under. The main spine of its’ line is former Milwaukee Road trackage that extended North from Green Bay, Wis. to Channing, Mich. With trackage rights on CN from Pembine, Wis. East to Escanaba and North from Escanaba to Channing. I stop and follow what seems to be rare freights trundling along on former Milwaukee Road trackage that could use some serious upgrading. I realize revenue on this line may be sparce as the customers, but I wish E&LS all the best.

Good deal. now maybe they can overhaul the ex-D & H (nee-NYC) Sharknose diesels they have locked up and run them on some fan trips or sell or give them to somebody that can do some good with them instead of acting like they don’t even exist!

E&LS has been switching a lot of grain cars at the Grainery in Oconto Falls,Wi in the last few years. Also I have noticed that in the last month, a lot Box Cars have been being loaded at the Mcdermid Allen Canning Warehouse. Over the years most of the cars being loaded are 50’ old CSX plug door cars. Lately there has been some 60’ High Cub cars and some 72’ Reefer cars being loaded. I hope this continues.

That copper and silver mine just got approved by the Michigan DEQ north of Ironwood. Does anyone know if EL&S has expressed any interest in this (obtaining trackage rights, etc.) I realize its kind of out of the way for them, but just wondering if anything has developed on that end.
