''Especially For Beginners'' Series 20th Anniversary

Back in 1992, MR published a project layout series much different than any other. The layout was almost completely unplanned, except for size (4x8) and scale (HO). Quote ‘‘we decided to take a more spontaneous approach, to just jump in and start paddling’’- from HO R.R. From Start To Finish. It’s benchwork was made of Foamcore in order to comply with the criteria of NO power tools, NO messy materials, simple to build, and easily transportable. Since then, MR has decided to pursue other avenues.

My reason for this posting is to gather support in requesting MR to build a ‘‘Cripple Creek Central 2.0’’

A possible add-on would be to have us, the readers decide what happens- or at least have us vote on era, locale, and style of layout. -And watch the Fun unfold!

Model Railroading Is FUN!

Great idea !!!

It was actually wider than 4 feet (closer to 5 feet, a good idea for HO island layouts) and it was the planning process that the author went through before building the layout that revealed it needed to be wider then four feet to use the broader Unitrack curves.

The series actually started in the January 1991 MR, by the way.
