Looking at some of the documentation it appears that one might be able to add additional LED to the lighting strips, to the side for instance, to light a passenger car hallway, while the main LED lights a cabin or whatever.
It also appears that each car would have its own address just like a loco, to control lighting effects.
Seems pretty new, and I don;t have any passenger trains. But the price seems reasonable, $32 for a decoder, the LEDs, and a keep alive. And it sounds more functional than a typical function-only decoder, when they say it can do things like simulate a defective light. By contrast the TCS FL4 4 function only decoder goes for about $22. Without any LEDs or anything, just the decoder. The ESu decoder in the light set has a lot more than 4 functions, as well.
Yes, I found the manual on the ESU site, they’re pretty neat little sets actuall. I just picked the first place that came up selling them for the street price I gave, but if Tony’s is selling for that, I’d snap up their entire stock.
