Checking the CSX train symbols, there are a number of their “K trains” which are destined to locations such as Doremus, NJ, Linden, NJ, Curtis Bay, Md, Port Reading, NJ, Oak Island, NJ, and Selkirk, NY.
Are these ethanol blending locations?

Where is the enthanol shipping from? Most of the plants in the upper midwest mix gasoline into the ethanol right at the plant. This way it is not 200 proof, and meets the federal tax laws. Usually about 5% gasoline is mixed in before the tank cars are loaded.

At least some of the Ethanol tank cars shipped to Selkirk head east on the former Boston & Albany to Worcester, Ma. where they are handed off to the Providence & Worcester. From there they go south to the Port of Providence (RI) where Motiva energy has a large ethanol terminal and fuel blending facility (the gasoline is offloaded from tankers and barges which come up from refineries in New Jersey)…
So, you’re saying it is not a good idea to drink from an ethanol tank car loaded in the upper midwest. Youse guys take the “fun” out of railroading! I’ll bet they wouldn’t do that in western North Carolina!
