Evans Rail Products: When and why did they fade away?

Evans Products Freight Cars built in the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s were plentiful in the 1990’s and many EP Freight Cars are still around.

When did Evans Products stop building freight cars?

What happened to Evans Rail Products?

Evans Products Rail production seemed to end sometime in the 1980’s.

Gunderson grew much larger in the 1980’s. Did Gunderson play a role in the dissapearance of Evans Rail Products?

The U.S. Railway Equipment and Evans Rail Products connection is mentioned.

They were bought up by GE and the focus of the business was turned to maintenance, according to the post.

This must have happened in the middle 1980’s when GE was making many aquisitions.
