ExactRail HO scale Vert-A-Pac
I’M HAPPY TO FINALLY SEE A MODEL OF THE VERT-A-PAC CAR PRODUCED. I MADE ONE FROM A WOOD KIT IN THE '70S THAT WAS QUITE INVOLVED IN CUTTING AND GLUEING ALL THE WOOD PIECES TO BUILD THE CAR.
I WORKED FOR ACF INDUSTRIES-ST. LOUIS PLANT DURING THE 1970’S TIME PERIOD AND REMEMBER THEM TESTING THE CAR AT THE FACILITY. I ALSO OWNED A 1970 CHEVY VEGA WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN LOADED IN A VERT-A-PAC FOR DELIVERY FROM THE FACTORY.

ExactRail has made some nice quality models that can usully be purchased with reasonable discounts from participating dealers. I really like what I have seen and have several on order with my local dealer. I try my best to stay in the $20.00 range for quality freight models but if good detail & type of car is unique & viable I will make exceptions. ExactRail is one of those companies. I tend to go for the higher end of their line but some car types don’t need so much detail to look like the real thing. These Vert-A-Pak cars would make a nice addition to my modern trains. I don’t think I will miss separate grabs on this type of model but the price is a little steep perhapse. I will probably buy a few to add operating interest.
