Excellent Light With Many Uses

Last Christmas I was looking for gifts to give my son and came across a cap with leds in the brim. Recently I read a thread where a poster mentioned having this very same cap and I’m wondering “Where is my brain”. I’ve just been spending a lot of time wiring switch motors and having trouble getting light where I needed it. I ordered a cap sap and can tell you I wouldn’t be without it.

It’s not only good under the layout but in closets, stuffed shelves, and for reading menus in dark restaurants. Insert smiley

I have one of those ball caps for working under the layout. It is a great work aid.The button cell batteries are easy to buy and replace.

I find this version is lighter than the clip on ball cap lights from ebay.

I have a homemade creeper with sloping back and a couple slightly higher home made stools for a little more height.

They also make head bands with quite powerful LED’s. You can find them at Home Depot or Lowes.

Headlamps with LED’s are also available at many outdoor stores, such as Cabellas, REI and such. Mine uses two AA batteries and lasts for months.

The kids got me one of those for fathers day from Lowes, my little guys constantly hands it to me telling me to put the lights on. I was forced to go to dinner with a couple of my wife’s friends one of which is the stuffiest person I’ve ever met. We went to this place that was obviously looking to save money on the electric bill so knowing this in advance I told my wife I was going to bring the hat. She gave me a look that would has stopped a bull elephant from charging, so I thought better of my idea and left it home. We get to the place and at the next table some old timer flips on the lights on his ball cap. His wife was giving him a piece of her mind and I said loudly enough see he brought his why couldn’t I bring mine. The gentlemen was nice enough to offer me the use of his but I declined and pulled out my mini mag light instead. I should have asked him if he was a model railroader, we are a resourceful bunch.

Good thinking. They say great minds run in the same channel.

At an appropiate time and place with the appropiate friends I will wear THE CAP and spring in on them including the wife. We all need a good laugh now and then.

Happy Railroading,

Bob
