Santa brought it last yr, was going to get 1 of the exp. kits but, he wants a WMD…don’t want to spend the $…but, how could I expand to 2 trains, e.g.(Pa. Flyer) and expand the lay-out as well, without buying additional FasTrack.
| Whats a WMD? Well it might be a problem running 2 engines on 1 track unless your doubleheadin(which might be a problem too…) |

Western Maryland, live here, but…buy exp. FasT, or, get another train, or…? Looking 4 ideas, new to this.
Not sure what the track plan is with your original set. If you have a loop and a passing siding you can run two trains if you divide your layout into three blocks. Would only be able to have one train moving at a time unless it was a long siding, but it would work. If you did buy a complete second set, two switches could connect them, but four would make continuous running easier.
Good luck,
Go to the Classic Toy Trains forum on this, Trains.com, site and ask your questions there. They deal with Lionel and other 3 rail trains.
To answer your question, the easiest way to run 2 trains is on seperate loops of track. Of course you need more track for this. If you are on a budget you can find used traditional 3 rail track at hobby shops or on ebay. About 50 cents a section is typical for decent used track. Fastrack and traditional 3 rail track can also be raised with elevated trestles, so you can run two levels of trains also.
A good reference site with good track plan ideas can be found here;
