Extending indoor non scenic 12x5 LGB Oval to 13x7 LGB Oval

Here it is.I am waiting to increase my non-scenery 12x5 LGB Oval Layout.Not being familiar with anything other than a basic circle or oval, I want to enlarge the track to a larger oval.Also, because my new Live Steam 13 Ton 2 Cylinder Shay will not complete a single turn on my current layout, even though I was told it would.Anyway, what size track would I need for extending to the 13x7 layout?

I know space may be an issue, but if you can fit 8 feet curves I would recommend LGB sectional 16000 series track. If you can’t afford 8 feet, LGB flex track is an option, still getting the same high quality rails and ties. With flex some need a rail bender, but I’ve done the bending without one using sectional pieces as a guide .these were installed in a garden railway and worked well.

Specifications for LGB 16000 (R3) Track

  • Diameter:
  • The official metric diameter is 2486mm which converts to 97.9 inches or roughly 8.17 feet.
  • Radius: The radius is 1195 mm approx. 47 inches, which is measured to the center line of the track.

You will need 16 pieces for full circle , 8 pieces for half circle.
