I am rebuilding my layout and am trying to locate extruded styrofoam (Owens Corning) pink or blue foam here in the Santa Clarita Valley (North Los Angeles County Area). Attempts at Home Depot, Lowes, etc., have failed to locate any. Can get some via the internet but cost for shipping is twice the cost of the foam boards. Found out that model plane folks love to use the foam for the wings of their planes and after skinning them with thin balsa the wings are practically indestructable.
Also looking for HO railroaders in this area to hook up with for operations, building, BS, Coffee, etc.
Not so! EFI is used for air-conditioned houses, too. Here in the Houston area, which gets right toasty, I have no trouble finding sheets up to 2 inches thick.
Try calling it Dow Styrofoam Brand SM Extruded Foam Insulation. At least that is what it says on the stuff I have here infront of me that I bought here in Canada. You could try calling Dow in the US looking for distributors. This is right from Dow’s US website
Where can I purchase STYROFOAM* extruded polystyrene?

I just bought some tonight. I guess us northern basement dwellers are fortunate that we need it around here. They usually try to sell me the Foundation Plus which is the white beaded sruff
Fair enough. How ever I moved here from Pennsylvania about 12 years ago and I have never encountered a rattle snake in AZ. Saw many of them in PA… really odd, but that’s the way it is.
I remember going to Wilimington, NC to pick up an antique car that had been stored outside for many years. Since this was our first trip so far south, we were told by the locals to make sure any cars that had been sitting a while to stomp on the floorboards to get the critters out. How true that was we don’t know, but we did find an old snake skin in the frame of the car after we got home and tore it apart. Between that and seeing a gator sunning himself on a log near the bow of the battleship North Carolina, that was enough for me.
