I was one of those that went the EZ water route a few years ago. about 6 months ago it started looking like cracked ice. Is there any way to remove this without burning up the adjacent scenery. Also is Woodlands newest water product any better ?
I use a small heat gun to re glaze the surface it usually works out ok.
I think your best bet would be to either brush a THIN layer of plaster on top and start over, or if it just appears cracked but isn’t peeling, paint over the top and start over.
As far as the new WS products I can’t say because I tend to look for cheaper alternatives. My water is all made from Krylon fireless pottery glazing from Hobby Lobby. It’s crystal clear, semi-flexible (to avoid cracking) and all water base so it cleans up easily and it brushes on like really thick nasty paint. It won’t look clear when you put it on, but give it a few hours to dry and you’ll have a nice crystally surface.

I have experience with EZ Water and WS Realistic Water. The EZ water is pure junk!!! Mine turned yellowis in a year and cracked in 18 months. The only way to fix the cracks is with a heat gun (a hair dryer will not do it, not enough heat) which WILL melt/burn whatever is along the shore line. My advise is use whatever means available to replace it.
Realistic Water, on the other hand, is a GREAT product. The only trick here, as with any similar product, is to be sure that your area is level and water-tight and pour it in thin layers–1/8" or less, with 1/16" being better. Mine was stayer clear and uncracked for over 2 years and looks as good as the day it was poured. This is because it does not become hard and is self healing. The sister product Water Effects work equally well for surface texture. As to cost, these products are not prohibitively expensive unless you are pouring (scale) acres of water. I have been quite happy with them. In my opinion WS has made a real improvement here and should take EZ Water off the market (just my opinion).
