F units set to shine at ‘Streamliners at Spencer’ event

The bracket above the cab on NH FL9s locomotives is the mount for the Hancock Air Whistle. These were replaced about 1989-90 by Metro-North. The 5-chime horn was mounted in the same spot. 2019 will carry the original Air Whistle at Spencer.

The first line should read:
“The gathering of 25 streamlined cab units at Spencer later this month has served as the impetus to move ahead with repair and repaint projects for at least two F units that will attend.”

Most importantly, the 2019 had its K5LA replaced with a Hancock Air Whistle!

Question? On the NH FL9 between the windows there is a bracket for something. Any ideas what this is used for? Lights, back up operation? Thanks for input on this.

This makes me wish CGW 116-A, a F7 on display in Oelwein, Iowa, was operable and had fresh paint. Sad she will miss this gathering.

I have never seen a NH unit looking so pretty, WOW! ( no foam ) And that FP7 is amazing! Great jobs by Lots of Volunteers helping out, it IS Appreciated! I hope that fresh paint can reside under cover after Spencer. This event is very historic. Terabytes of Pictures and video will be taken!

I can’t wait to get there and see all the beautiful ladies. I have tickets for Saturday and am counting down the days. I am glad it not going to be 100 this time because shade is sparse.

Anyone know the time and path of travel for 2500A? I’d like to see it outside of the Museum.

Just saw the Lackawanna B unit that is in the paint shop at Steamtown getting finishing touches for the trip to Spencer

Can’t wait! Will bring the 18-35 for my D700!!
