Technically, it’s a 1997 as mentioned above. However, it can also be any model year from 1997 to 2003 as Ford didn’t have a major styling change for seven years. A little chrome or silver paint will take care of the minor year-to-year differences in the particular trim level modeled by Atlas.
It would be quite simple to have a heavily weathered model, perhaps with a modification or two, representing an older truck and a lightly weathered model representing a newer truck.
In any event, it’s hard to have too many Ford F-150s on a modern-era layout. In the seven years the Atlas body style was on the market, Ford sold millions of F-150s.
